POSITION SUMMARY: The Director oversees the Inpatient Clinical Application teams to ensure effective performance. Responsibilities may include preparation and execution of business strategy to achieve company goals, communicating and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, managing employment decisions, managing departmental budget, ensuring compliance with security, legal and regulatory standards. The Director establishes and monitors key performance indicators related to customer satisfaction, quality improvements, patient safety and financial stability.
Responsibilities
- Works with application leads and managers in assigned area to manage a comprehensive development roadmap to proactively plan for system & hardware upgrades and replacements for end-of-life systems.
- Evaluates current state processes and identifies gaps to future state process around application use to maximize departmental and organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Responsible for facilitating department communication. Uses multi-channel delivery methods to ensure messaging reaches the right audience within IT, Operations or external parties.
- Responsible for employment related decision making in conjunction with department leaders.
- Responsible for mentorship and oversight of Inpatient Apps managerial team.
- Develops and maintains budgets, monitors financial performance and provides regular reports to senior management.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field.
- 10+ years of experience in applicable business area(s) (clinical, operational or IT systems support)
- At least 3 years of experience managing an application team within the healthcare industry or related field.
- Experience with core Inpatient Clinical Systems, especially Epic.
- Experience in data analysis and report generation.
- Experience working in a healthcare environment; Clinical licensure (RN or similar), preferred.
- Experience with regulatory reporting and regulatory requirements in applicable clinical area, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of hospital-based provider, nurse, clinician workflows and best practices.
- Proven ability to understand business issues and objectives as well as the ability to translate them into application solutions.
- Strong understanding in the areas of application technology and system design.
- Basic project management skills (ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, maintain issues list, manage project plan).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
