DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will assume a variety of professional duties within the Bureau of District Mining Operations, primarily concentrating on the improvement of water quality in watersheds impacted by Acid Mine Drainage (AMD). You will report directly to the Treatment Trust/ABS Sites Manager, and your role will involve a wide range of activities designed to promote effective watershed management. Your key responsibilities will include enhancing water quality at Alternate Bonding System (ABS) Sites, managing acid mine drainage discharges at locations where bonds have been forfeited, executing and overseeing contracts related to reclamation projects for bond forfeiture, administering Trust Funds, and supervising contracts for the treatment of AMD discharges as outlined in those agreements. This work will be guided by specific program objectives, necessitating that you exhibit a high level of initiative and independence in planning, scheduling, and carrying out your responsibilities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Seven years of experience in environmental protection, environmental regulation, or resource conservation which includes three years of experience in a professional capacity; or
  • Three years of professional experience in environmental protection, environmental regulation, or resource conservation and a bachelor's degree in biological or environmental science, environmental protection, resource conservation, engineering, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes three years of professional experience in environmental protection, environmental regulation, or resource conservation.

Special Requirements:
  • This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
