Product Owner - Actuarial Systems (Hybrid)

As a Product Owner supporting our Actuarial Systems including valuation, hedging, and life reinsurance, you will play a pivotal role inshapingthe vision, strategy, and execution of the roadmap to meet the needsofthe Finance, Risk and Actuarial stakeholders in the Individual Solutions and Capital Solutions and Risk Management areas. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensurethedelivery of high-quality features that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of valuation, hedging, and reinsurance systems. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, technical acumen, and excellent communication skills to deliver solutions that meet the needs of our users and drive business success.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • In partnership with business and technology owners, create a compelling product vision. Develop and execute on the product roadmap with a focus on measurable outcomes. Track and regularly share progress with stakeholders and team.
  • Define Product KPIs, monitor and report on business and customer metrics/outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal business lines, Enterprise Technology, and other shared services to elicit, analyze, and understand needs, constraints, risks, and alignment with organizational strategy and priorities.
  • Engage and collaborate with team and stakeholders to create and manage Agile artifacts (e.g., Product Roadmap, Backlog, Release Plan). Regularly assess features and costs to determine whether and when to proceed.
  • Responsible for accepting product deliverables.
  • Prioritize and maintain the sprint backlog for assigned products, balancing the requirements of stakeholders.
  • Cultivate and maintain an effective relationship with all stakeholders. Help the business create requirements for changes and improvements.
  • Act as the liaison between the product team and business on product changes, ensuring clear understanding of needed features in the product/application.
  • Work in an Agile environment, continuously reviewing business needs, refining priorities, outlining milestones and deliverables, and identifying opportunities and risks.

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years' experience as a product owner, demonstrating the ability to deliver measurable business value and outcomes, or supporting product owners in achieving these goals.
  • Strategic thinker, analytical, and results driven.
  • Proven leadership skills to guide the creation of a self-organizing team, assertively manage business priorities and opposing viewpoints, and adhere to Agile concepts and principles.
  • In-depth understanding of Agile practices, including iterative development, incremental delivery, backlog management, burn down metrics, velocity, and task definition.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills to connect and engage team members, facilitate discussions, advocate for the team, negotiate with business/corporate areas, mentor/coach team members, and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction, adapt to shifting priorities and schedules, handle multiple issues simultaneously, and manage stressful situations effectively.
  • Strong technical aptitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with life or annuity product development, valuation, or risk management.
  • 3+ years' experience as a product owner.

The estimated base pay range for this job is:

$84,000.00 - $155,000.00

Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
