A Utility Locator identifies, locates, and marks the location of subsurface utilities in order to minimize accidental damage or disruption of service due to construction excavation activities, must be familiar with industry standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures. Responsibilities In addition, you will: Locate underground cables and verify their placement in accordance with blueprints and designated plans Operate various utility locating equipment, including Pipehorn and Dynatel, as well as other locator brands as needed Potentially operate Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) equipment for subsurface utility detection Read and interpret 811 locate tickets accurately Maintain familiarity with right-of-ways and proper locating procedures within them Maintain company equipment according to service requirements and safety guidelines Perform all work in compliance with company safety standards and protocols Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned Qualifications About You: Strong commitment to safety and quality work Problem solver with a hands-on approach Comfortable working independently and taking initiative Enjoys outdoor work in all weather conditions and willing to work overtime High school diploma or GED preferred Experience in underground utility construction is a plus Able to read and understand blueprints and maps Valid driver's license with clean record (CDL Class A preferred); able to pass DOT physical Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform bending, climbing, kneeling, and other physical tasks required for the job Responsible for personal actions, assigned equipment, and prompt reporting of any incidents Hard work pays off.
