TITLE:Purchasing Associate



POSITION OBJECTIVE: This position is responsible for all procurement functions directly associated with the Company's requirements for two facilities, Plattsburgh, NY and Chateauguay, Quebec. Purchases will consist of but certainly not be limited to: raw materials and services, equipment, maintenance, repair & operational parts, machine parts, tooling and other items as requested. The Purchasing person will also perform special projects and other tasks as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Excellent organizational and proven negotiation skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient computer skills including Excel.
  • Ability to take direction and work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.


  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Process the accurate and timely procurement of raw materials, goods and services in accordance with established policies, procedures, specifications and internal and external standards.
  • Ensure proper processing of purchase orders and confer with suppliers to obtain product and service information such as price, availability and required delivery schedule.
  • Secure and analyze quotations, negotiate prices and terms with suppliers and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness.
  • Establish and maintain professional and ethical supplier relationships.
  • Confer with suppliers to obtain quotes for product and service information such as price, availability and required delivery schedule.
  • Negotiate pricing and service contracts and work within established budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
  • Investigate and establish new sources of supply where existing suppliers are inadequate and/or cost prohibitive.



WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:



  • Prolonged sitting.
  • Prolonged use of computer, and looking at computer screen.
  • Data entry
