THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this essential position, you will oversee and guide inmates in executing a range of skilled mechanical tasks related to the maintenance and repair of high-pressure steam boilers, stationary steam engines, and associated steam, electric, and heating equipment. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the care, custody, and control of the inmates assigned to you during your shift. Tasks will be assigned, monitored, and evaluated both during and after completion to ensure adherence to instructions and safe operational practices, under the supervision of a technical supervisor or administrative superior.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hour work week
  • Work hours are 6:30 AM to 2:300 PM, Sunday - Thursday
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in performing skilled mechanical repair work involving heavy machines; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from high school; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Additional Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
