JOB SUMMARY This position assists with management of the University's art collection and its display, transport, installation, and storage. This position is 4 days per week (32 hours) with benefits. JOB DUTIES
- Coordinate and oversee Art Maintenance contractor, ensuring all deliverables are fulfilled as outlined in vendor contract; for budgeting purposes, prioritize and recommend objects that require out-of-scope conservation/repair work; submit regular reports to Art Curator and Art Curator Assistant on maintenance progress and/or issues observed; periodically inspect high value art works and document condition in database.
- Ensure pieces in collection are properly preserved and installed; coordinate repair/conservation work, as needed; prep care manuals - by building - for reference by Facilities Management personnel and custodial staff; develop and maintain contact list for art-related services.
- Support Art Curator with management of capital, renovation, and other projects by making site visits, taking measurements, advising on site conditions and potential issues, and ensuring site is prepped as agreed with Project Management team and Contractor; assist with overseeing art installations.
- Support Art Curator Assistant in developing bid request documents for shipping and installation for new acquisitions (both original art and framed photography).
- Partnering with Art Curator Assistant, coordinate transportation, shipping, and installation of new acquisitions, including communicating with all stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Partnering with Asset Management team, ensure new original art acquisitions receive tag IDs and updated locations for existing works are captured in PeopleSoft (UTSW's asset management system); generate object checklists and inventory reports, as needed.
- Organize and maintain art storage facility.
- Create and manage service requests.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute art moves from newly vacated spaces, including removal, transportation, and storage of artwork.
- Assist with the installation of temporary exhibitions and implementation of other art programs on campus.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
