Overview
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Manager of Sustainability to join our dynamic Risk Management team! Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Manager of Sustainability will lead the development, implementation, and management of the Company's sustainability strategy, goals, KPIs, and reporting in collaboration with the business. They will be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive understanding of sustainability metrics and trends related to CED's business and the three pillars of our Sustainability Program: Environmental, Workplace Experience and Ethical Governance & Practices. Please note that for this role, we are specifically looking for individuals who can work a hybrid schedule from one of our Colliers Engineering & Design office locations. This ensures alignment with team operations and supports effective communication across departments.
Responsibilities
- In collaboration with client-facing divisions, lead the definition, development and promotion of the overall firm's sustainability solutions offering by understanding industry trends, client needs and existing capabilities.
- Develop guidelines and curate a set of resources, best practices & learning opportunities to raise employee awareness of sustainable design practices.
- In partnership with other functional areas, monitor progress of the overall sustainability strategy & spearhead sustainability reporting.
- Monitor emerging sustainability trends & regulations and their expected impact on the firm.
- Manage relationships with internal & external stakeholders, including Colliers' Global Head of Sustainability.
- Research, track, and monitor existing and pending sustainability benchmarking and performance regulations relevant to CED.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to collect, organize, manage, and interpret-data associated with relevant metrics. Monitor ongoing performance, identifying strengths and areas for improvement, and developing future strategies.
- Respond directly to, or provide information for response to, sustainability related data requests from clients and other third parties in a timely manner. Prioritize requests and communicate turnaround expectations.
- Communicate effectively with employees, clients, consultants, and others regarding sustainability metrics, requirements, and related information.
- Serve as a leader to the Employee Resource Groups at CED, providing guidance, governance and direction in support of the overarching sustainability initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil/mechanical/structural engineering/architecture with subject matter expertise & passion for sustainability principles integration into the built environment.
- Ten (10) + years of experience in the field with an emphasis on sustainability management/consulting, GHG emissions and decarbonization AND management experience is required.
- Knowledge & understanding of emerging federal & state commitments, industry initiatives & best practices on sustainability, including but not limited to AIA 2030, World GBC Net Zero Buildings, etc.
- Understanding of climate resiliency and adaptation for the built environment.
- Understanding of sustainability reporting standards, regulations and frameworks (e.g., IFRS S1/2, TCFD, SASB.).
- Green building/real estate certifications strongly preferred (LEED, WELL etc.).
- Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently without needing constant direction or supervision.
- Superb analytical skills and proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools, such as Microsoft Excel or other closely related technology, to support annual reporting, data analysis, and data interpretation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new technology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify and effectively communicate complex sustainability concepts to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to work individually and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic, evolving environment.
- Excellent judgment, strong commitment to ethics and integrity, and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Excellent leadership skills and demonstrated experience with cross-functional project management and collaboration.
Compensation: $94,700 - $139,100 per year (depending on qualifications)
