We are currently seeking an Engineering Specialist to join our RR&T team.

Position Summary:

Performs a variety of specializing paraprofessional engineering and technical duties including designs, project layouts and contract documents in accordance with company design standards and client requirements under supervision of the Project Manager, Senior Engineers, and/or Senior Engineering Specialist. Maintains and enhances reputation for individual and firm as a recognized industry expert in specialization.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Provides the technical support to professional staff and direction to design team members assigned to the same projects and discipline
  • Assists in the development of all drawings, sketches and specifications required to complete a project design in a particular discipline
  • Assists in the creation and development of system designs for assigned projects
  • Assists Project Managers and Senior Engineering Specialist with coordination of the design with other disciplines, attends design coordination meetings with members and client representatives.
  • Reviews electronically generated drawing with accuracy, neatness and speed, maintaining high quality and uniform standards of lines and lettering.
  • Informs the Project Manager and Engineer of technical challenges and any design work beyond his or her capabilities
  • Studies and selects of equipment to fit the project design
  • Ensures the company, client and industry standards and technical policies and procedures are practiced during the execution of projects for clients
  • Reviews shop drawings, record changes and keeps all disciplines informed of details and schedules
  • Communicates design requirements and answers questions from contractors and suppliers during the bid or construction phases and maintains records of communications.
  • Supervises field data collections and/or field system verifications
  • Coordinates the contract documents with the construction administrators and performs on-site inspections during construction as required
  • Reviews project specification to fit project requirements
  • Performs specific engineering studies and design analyses and assists the Project Manager and Senior Engineering Specialist in establishing budgets, cost estimates and project schedules
  • Assists in the supervision of other designers and drafters assigned to a project
  • Participates in the development of marketing strategies, assists in the development of proposals and the presentation of qualifications to clients on projects related to specialization
  • Develops and fosters associations and memberships with appropriate technical groups and industry resources to promote the professional image and reputation of the firm
  • Participates in technical articles, presents technical papers and training seminars to appropriate technical groups to promote the professional image and reputation of the firm * Represents the firm to clients and other outside groups where the technical reputation and/or professional image of the firm are of paramount importance


Education & Certifications:



  • Two to four year technical degree in applicable discipline plus 8-15 years applicable design experience in the design of similar projects.
