Job Overview:

The Charleroi plant, part of Ingersoll Rand, specializes in manufacturing high-performance vacuum and positive pressure technologies, along with engineered systems for a wide range of industrial applications. Backed by a multi-brand, multi-channel strategy, our expert team transforms metal castings and raw materials into globally recognized products. With a strong focus on innovation, our Engineering team partners across functions to design cutting-edge solutions that deliver lasting value to our customers.

Drive engineering excellence by supporting the design, production, and improvement of centrifugal blowers, vacuum pumps, and related technologies. As our Plant Support Engineer, you'll play a key role
working cross-functionally with Sourcing, Operations, and Manufacturing to deliver cost-effective designs, resolve production challenges, and boost product performance. This is a hands-on, in-the-plant role-perfect for someone ready to troubleshoot issues in real time while evaluating and optimizing products. You'll contribute to critical projects from concept to implementation
and help standardize product offerings through rationalization and new product development.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and work with Centrifugal Blowers, Liquid Ring Compressors, Liquid Ring Vacuum pumps and other technologies to improve design, performance, and/or manufacturing process.
  • Provide technical guidance to cross-functional team members including Sourcing, Operations, and Manufacturing with respect to product-based education and decisions.
  • Produce cost effective designs, complex layouts assemblies, detail parts drawings, and generate associated bills of materials.
  • Work closely with the plant personnel to resolve issues regarding legacy and new products currently in production.
  • Available for hands-on troubleshooting in the manufacturing plant on short notice.
  • Evaluate existing products based on feedback from manufacturing, quality, or assembly to assess functionality and determine product effectiveness for customers.
  • Support Engineering efforts on critical projects which includes idea development, prototype, project execution, and system implementation.
  • Collect product data via reports, manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
  • Work with team to standardize product offering through product rationalization and new product development.



Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other related engineering discipline.
  • Experience with rotating machinery is preferred
  • Must have excellent mechanical skills and knowledge of good assembly and testing practices
  • Must be capable to work safely in a fast paced, creative, results-oriented atmosphere.
  • Strong collaboration and problem solving skills with cross functional team
  • Experience in 3D modeling software preferred (i.e. SolidWorks, Inventor, and/or PTC Creo)
  • Analytical skills with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must demonstrate a team work ethic and a consistently positive attitude.

Travel and Work Arrangements

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work environment includes inside and outside of an office environment.
  • Ability to communicate information effectively in person and via remote conference calls
  • Minimal travel required between other Ingersoll Rand locations such as Springfield MO or Quincy IL (<10% to be expected)
