MATERIALS COACH - 3rd SHIFT (10pm-7am)
MONTGOMERY, AL - PLANT
This role is responsible for providing oversight and management of shipping and receiving of materials, materials planning, inventory control activities, and employee engagement in a Just in Time, automotive environment.
Incumbents in this classification are primarily responsible for providing day-to-day guidance and support to High-Performance, Materials Team Members regarding planning, shipping, and receiving of materials based on usage trends, trigger points and reorder quantities.
The Role:
Work will include, but not be limited to:
- Overseeing the performance of Materials Team Members (through Team Leaders) for consistent results of timely parts unloading storage, retrieval, and delivery to assigned lines.
- Enforcing Environmental, Health, and Safety rules and regulations.
- Maintaining excellent employee relations by inspiring and motivating plant staff to perform to their highest level of efficiency.
- Providing training, direction, encouragement, and motivation to the Materials Team in the execution of their daily assignments.
- Resolving team issues and collaborating to assist Team Members with problem/conflict resolution.
- Monitoring inventory levels and processing procedures.
- Overseeing the distribution of materials throughout the plant and ensuring deliveries meet plant needs.
- Providing recommendations based on adjustments to the customer's schedule including forecasting needed inventory, placing seats on hold, and filling gaps.
- Ensuring uniform systems, procedures and training are in place to enhance the productivity and efficiency of the Materials Team.
- Evaluating processing procedures and activities of the Materials Team and recommending/implementing improvements and modifications for higher efficiencies.
- Partnering to optimize warehouse space while supporting operations.
- Participating in the selection of Materials Team Leaders/Members and providing/coordinating proper training.
- Effectively developing, mentoring to give Team Members opportunities for personal and professional growth.
- Building and maintaining positive working relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Monitoring maintenance of company equipment and ensuring vehicles are in good working condition- to include partnering for the coordination of availability of equipment.
- Assisting with the cycle counting process and participating in physical inventory events to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Participating in inter-departmental teams working towards continuous process improvement and elimination of waste.
- Maintaining and implementing departmental procedures to ensure compliance with TS16949 standards.

Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 3-5 years' experience in materials and/or logistics.
- Must be able to work extended periods of time and rotating shift hours.
- Must be able to get certified in forklift and other powered vehicles.
- Must be familiar with JIT Manufacturing Practices and AS400.
