FTE: 1.0, Shift: Day, Schedule: Day Position Summary The WIC Certifier I is responsible for determining WIC eligibility, scheduling potential participants and enrolling when qualified. External contacts include patients, families, physicians and outside organizations and agencies. Essential Functions Communicates with participants in a sensitive manner regarding lifestyle, medical history, nutritional practices and income Performs clerical tasks, including answering phones, prequalifying prospective clients, scheduling appointments, making reminder calls, etc. Uses participant-centered techniques to provide personalized nutrition education/referrals and to educate pregnant women on how to initiate and sustain breastfeeding and to help breastfeeding clients solve common breastfeeding problems Assesses participants' health and nutrition status using Washington State WIC Assessment Questions Ability and willingness to meet with families individually in clinic and virtually. This position may work in any clinic location operated by MHS WIC Services across Pierce County, use of personal vehicle is required Requirements High school diploma or GED Must complete WIC Certification training within 6 months of hire Must obtain a Washington State MA-R (Medical Assistant - Registered) within 6 month of hire Bi-lingual preferred but not necessary (Spanish/English or Russian/English) Why Mary Bridge Children's? As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $21.47 - $30.89 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
