AES is seeking a full-time Engineer or Senior Engineer to join the T&D Standards team, responsible for creating and updating engineering, design, construction and equipment standards for AES Indiana and AES Ohio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and provide technical assistance to stakeholders (engineering, operations, supply chain and construction teams) as needed.

  • Troubleshoot equipment failures, safety incidents and provide solutions through updated standards or creation of new standards.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to align current work practices in AES Ohio and AES Indiana and improve existing standards.

  • Develop, review, and update construction standard drawings by working closely with a drafting team.

  • Work closely with the supply chain team and manufacturers to identify alternatives to approved equipment and to develop improved specifications for new equipment to support the distribution/substation/transmission system of the future.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in engineering, electrical engineering (power) major preferred, from an ABET-accredited engineering program. A Master of Science in Engineering is a plus.

  • Minimum three (3) years of practical employment experience in electric utility or industrial power system design, engineering, and/or construction in any of the disciplines-substation, transmission, or distribution.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to research and accurately interpret and apply national standards, including those maintained by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), etc.

  • Proficiency in electrical design and/or analysis software.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
