We are presently seeking a Buyer who will be responsible for developing and maintaining Excelitas's external supply chain with emphasis on optical components, electro-mechanical, and packaging commodities. This includes developing key alliances with strategic suppliers, developing new suppliers, and managing existing suppliers to meet targeted quality, on-time delivery, and cost reduction goals.

Main responsibilities:



  • Identifies and develops suppliers to meet the manufacturing organization's requirements for supplier quality, OTD, cost reduction, and inventory management goals.
  • Owns supplier relationships and actively participates in Excelitas's Supplier Performance Monitoring Team (SPMT) process.
  • Maintains accurate due dates and other product record information within the ERP/MRP system
  • Works closely and collaboratively with Quality and Engineering in completing Supplier Quality Audits, improving cost, quality, and delivery
  • Negotiates pricing and delivery schedules. Facilitates contract negotiations and review.
  • Issues purchase orders and manages open orders.
  • Ensures execution of the material requirements plan in an efficient and cost-effective manner
  • Uses innovative as well as established techniques to support cost reduction; Kanban, lean manufacturing, extended terms, consignment inventory, auto-replenishment, etc. Monitors & reports progress against cost savings targets.
  • Develops suppliers to adhere to performance goals, establishes stocking and cost-down programs with suppliers to ensure continuity of supply and profit margins.
  • Proactively reports potential shortages to the manufacturing & planning organization.
  • Ensures a high level of data integrity in item attributes of the business system (eg, lead time, cost, buyer assignments) to ensure the system provides valid suggestions.
  • May require limited travel to suppliers in support of supplier qualification activities, QBRs, and as needed.
  • Supports other members of the Purchasing team as needed through cross-training and flexing as workload dictates.
  • Helps develop and improve systems and processes in a controlled environment
  • Creates and develops an internal cross-functional network across Engineering, Quality, Planning, Program Management, and sales functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:



  • BA, BS, or equivalent experience with supply chain planning/materials emphasis preferred
  • 5-10 years of related experience in purchasing for a manufacturing organization.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of Material Resource Planning inputs, functions, and execution.
  • Planning, Program Management, SAP, and Optics procurement experience is preferred
  • Demonstrates skills in purchasing, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
  • Exceptional organizational skills are required; detail-oriented and time sensitive.
  • Strong communication skills coupled with the ability to work in a team environment are essential.
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office applications required.
  • Demonstrates a history of high-level performance within a metric-driven organization

Pay Range: $74,000- $93,000 annually, depending on experience.

Our facility in Boulder, Colorado, has key functions in Research and Development, Operations, Production, and other disciplines. This facility specializes in the manufacturing of ultra-precision optical components, optical thin film coatings, and optical sub-assemblies for demanding applications in lasers, materials processing, instrumentation, life sciences, avionics, and defense.

This site offers capabilities that include substantial design and engineering resources, comprehensive optical fabrication and coating capabilities, advanced assembly technology, and an extensive in-house metrology lab.
