Responsibilities
Position summary: Produces laser cuts for fabrication processes by setting up, programming, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) laser cutting machine in a safe, productive manner, ensuring all quality standards are met or exceeded. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Operating single or multiple CNC laser cutting machines, including loading raw material and ensuring quality by maintaining focal point adjustment, feed rate, power, and other parameters.
- Ensures machine optics are maintained by performing tests and procedures, including tape shots, lens focusing, lens cleaning, nozzle cleaning, and replacement of any worn items.
- Labels finished parts accurately and delivers them to designated areas.
- Monitors laser operations to ensure machine is functioning properly and safely; records machine code errors and communicates performance issues to the supervisor.
- Uses inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.
- Deburrs and cleans parts.
- Maintains quality, productivity, and safety records.
- Maintains supplies and performs regular preventive maintenance.
- Assists other operators with operating, inspecting, and cleaning machines and parts.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area.
- Employees are responsible to comply with all requirements of Daifuku's QMS policies and procedures.
- Employees are to ensure sustainable process outputs that drive continuous improvement to provide leading industry performance and exceptional customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent preferred Minimum of 2 years of CNC operating experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements: Knowledge of CNC laser-cutting operations Ability to read a tape measure and micrometer Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Good time management skills Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines Team-oriented and collaborative LOTO certification required Crane operation certification required Forklift operation certification required ADA Requirements:
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
- Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
- Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
- Visual Acuity: The worker is required to: have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
