The Sr. Process Engineer is responsible for improving existing manufacturing processes as well as implementing new equipment and manufacturing processes. The Process Engineer will develop and implement process technology to improve existing capabilities, with consideration towards safety, quality, cost, efficiency, schedules and availability of raw materials. Suggest, coordinate, and implement capital improvement projects in line with Company business plans. To be successful in this position, you should be able to work effectively within a team and have a high level of technical expertise.
Responsible for developing manufacturing technology and for improving manufacturing processes as they apply to the production of wire and cable products. Accomplish engineering tasks that require technical data gathering and analysis, problem identification and resolution, process evaluation, cost analysis and reduction. Establish operating equipment capability specifications, define process window, required tooling, and improve manufacturing techniques/processes.
Leads assigned projects dealing with cost reduction, equipment utilization improvement and downtime reduction, auditing quality control procedures, instructing manufacturing supervision in new processes and procedures, training of operators in new manufacturing techniques, and general "troubleshooting" of manufacturing processes. Maintains contact with vendors to keep abreast of new processes and latest manufacturing methods and technologies.
Initiates ideas, suggestions, and recommendations within the area of assigned projects. Assists in controlling manufacturing processes by specifying the most efficient use of equipment, materials and manpower. Diagnosis of manufacturing problems as they relate to machinery, materials and processes; identifies and implements appropriate corrective actions.
Directly involved in scrap reduction, primarily as it relates to the use of equipment, processes and materials. Assists in developing improved methods of manufacturing to reduce scrap, limit excessive usage of raw materials; and developing efficient and economical means of salvaging scrap.
Assist in training all production personnel on the proper operation of machines in the department. Develop and maintain all training documentation (manuals, posted instructions, computer information screens, etc.) for all operators.

Education and Experience Preferred:
Minimum of five years technical experience in a Manufacturing Engineering, Production or related activity in a wire and cable manufacturing environment, or a minimum of ten years in any other industry.
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
Cognitive thinking - problem solving, prioritizing activities, allocate resources, maintain an adequate supply of materials, make sound decisions, and recommend solutions in troubleshooting and repairing in a timely and effective manner.
Evaluating Information to determine compliance with standards - using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
Identifying Objects, Actions, and Events - identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
Ability to communicate with supervisors, peers or subordinates by telephone, in written form, email, or in person.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
Manual Dexterity - ability to quickly mover hands, hand together with arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
Spend time using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
Spend time standing, as well as sitting, bending, squatting, and reaching
Use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things
