JRAD is seeking candidates for a Senior Systems Engineer position responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of complex software solutions. This role involves providing technical guidance, mentoring junior developers, and ensuring the quality and performance of applications. The Senior Systems Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement solutions aligned with organizational goals and compliance standards. The position is a remote/telework position with frequent on-site meetings at the TSA HQs (Springfield, VA).

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring of STIP system status, reporting of, and coordinating restoration of un-planned system outages
  • Validation of system function pre- and post-planned infrastructure events.
  • Maintenance of methodology RFC's for STIPAS support.
  • Lead STIP incident/problem management processes for the development team
  • Train new STIP technicians/developers with a focus on background, and the interactions between stake holder groups.
  • Work with stakeholder groups to identify areas of opportunity for the STIPAS to add value, and translate those opportunities to requirements that can be developed against.
  • Coordinate with other O&M resources to maintain coverage, and provide support for scheduled maintenance events.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and automated testing processes.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues in production environments and lead root cause analysis.
  • Evaluate and integrate new tools, frameworks, and technologies to enhance system performance and development efficiency.

Required Skills and Education:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems engineering.
  • Current experience with TSA's Security Technology Integration Program (STIP) is required for this contract.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex IT systems.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix) and system architecture.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Python, Ansible).
  • Understanding of network protocols, security, and infrastructure.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Security Clearance (Secret or higher) or the ability to obtain one.
  • Experience working in government, defense, or regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and tools like Terraform, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, SonarQube.
  • Preference for Tier III help desk experience.

Security Clearance:

Candidate must:

  • Be able to pass DHS suitability screening or DHS financial responsibility standards.
  • Have or be eligible to receive a DHS Secret security clearance. Existing Secret Clearance is a plus.
