Reimagine What's Possible

We are seeking a Project Engineer within our West Customer Engineering team located in Chandler, AZ. This position requires 10-15% domestic travel. The role also requires onsite support during key project execution phases.

The Project Engineer will develop and implement gas delivery system projects. The projects include all stages from initial proposal development through startup and turnover. The team includes individuals from within the following North Americas (NA) Customer Engineering Organization; Asset, Product, Work Process and Equipment support, as well as teams within the West Business Organization; Logistics, Sales, Marketing, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing leadership in Air Products' Basic Safety Program to drive the entire project team to achieve company safety targets during all phases of project execution.
  • Crafting technical proposals and providing maintenance support to the Commercial Liquid Bulk Sales team based on an understanding of the customer requirements.
  • Generating detailed equipment layout, and flow schematic drawings.
  • Working with outside contractors for permitting, construction, manifold fabrication, piping installations, and system analytical certifications.
  • Participation in alignment teams to identify continuous improvement opportunities with a focus to serve customers more efficiently and effectively.

The candidate will work closely with the Engineering Manager and other crucial team members who will provide in-house training and mentorship from the regional Customer Engineering team members.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Keen focus on providing leadership in Air Products' Basic Safety program and driving the entire project team to achieve company safety targets for all phases of project execution.
  • Basic understanding of drafting or CAD for designing layout and system flow schematics.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, financial data analysis, technical capability to understand process and customer technology.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, results-oriented, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills enabling you to work well within a multi-disciplinary design team located in multiple geographies and to collaborate closely directly with suppliers and clients.
  • Detailed oriented with strong follow through and shown ability to prioritize different projects while maintaining focus on contract requirements.
  • Knowledge of NFPA and CGA codes is preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ yrs Project Engineering experience

Education and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelors Engineering degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • PMP Certification by Project Management Institute (PMI) is a plus

Work Hours:

Standard work hours are Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Start and end times are flexible within the local window of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

The role requires working from the office three days per week, with the option to work remotely two days per week-provided the employee is not scheduled to be at a job site or traveling outside the area.
