Job Summary

Responsible for directing all aspects of a food service 24/7 365 operation to include the supervision and management of employees, materials, supplies and quality control of all work performed. Prepare and or maintain required corporate and or contractual reports regarding safety, daily or weekly checklists, ensuring adherence to contract requirements relating to the serving of guests in a clean and organized food and beverage operation. Maintain open communication with contract representatives and corporate personnel. Establishes and monitors plans and procedures; provide guidance on employee problems and initiate/maintain training programs, safety programs, sanitation programs, equipment maintenance with the assists the Quality Assurance Manager with the quality control program.

Primary Duties

  • Successfully manage a group of supervisory staff and associates responsible for the front of the house (FOH) operation in the successful completion of all goals and objectives daily. Train and promote Sodexo 5-star requirements
  • Using SOPs prepare or ensure that all contractually required work, KPI's, trainings, and reports are completed and maintained on file and available for audit. Continually update SOPs to ensure staff have the most current version.
  • Using daily checklists inspect all areas under your control to ensure the operation is meeting the needs of Sodexo, the Marines, Navy, and Air Force. Any area that does not meet the requirement is to be immediately corrected, and appropriate personnel trained to ensure success.
  • Prepare and post the employee schedules for SSI staff and associate operations meeting union requirements.
  • Perform a variety of tasks involved with the temperature and inspection of food on every line.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all applicable training takes place for the SSI associates on a weekly, monthly, or annual basis as needed/required
  • Routinely check food on serving lines and during meal periods to ensure employees are correctly recording temperatures in log
  • Ensure staff is performing pre-service meetings with SSI Associates. Perform personnel hygiene inspections on an unannounced inspection schedule
  • Participate in mandatory or available training
  • Maintain training records for a group of supervisory staff and associates. Ensure that required training is completed, including but not limited to safety, drills, procedures, and effective methodologies of performing in a food service operation
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in managing a cafeteria or multi-full food service facility required.
  • Must have or be able to obtain Serve Safe certification (renewed every 5 years) within first 90 days of hire date.
  • Valid driver's license and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough understanding of the following areas: sanitation, conducting training, security, food preparation, customer relations, menu selection, safety and accident prevention, equipment maintenance, food, and labor cost control.
  • Organized, detail-oriented and self-directed individual who is a team player.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of individuals in a diverse community and environment, including groups of customers or employees of the organization both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Outlook, Word, and Excel.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment will vary from quiet to loud. PPE is required to be worn when in certain areas of the operation.
