The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a patient centered hourly (Sr.)Imaging Technologist to work in our UICC Urgent Care Clinics. This position is responsible for perform diagnostic imaging procedures utilizing advanced imaging technology/equipment, explain examination procedures to patients and monitor their status, and instruct students and staff on examination and equipment operations and ensures all imaging protocols are being used correctly. Position Responsibilities:
- Operate, adjust, and manipulate computerized electronic and mechanicalcomponents of computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Maintain, operate and trouble-shoot and report equipment failures.
- Instruct trainees, students and staff on equipment operation and safetyprecautions.
- Explain examination process to patients.
- Ensure patients welfare and assist physician with medical procedures
- Perform patient care techniques including skin preparation, I.V. placement, vitalsign monitoring and recording, and basic life support; prepare and administercontrast material to patients.
- Performs proficiency testing for the lab; runs all controls; maintains logbooks.
- Works closely with all inspectors
- Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data.
- Develops and processes radiologic film or creates image from CR unit.Deliversfilm/image to provider for reading/interpretation.Ensures film/image is conveyedto UIHC Radiology for over-read.
- Schedule's test, procedures, and admissions outside the clinic as directed by LIP.
- Maintains examination rooms.Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies
- Assist with inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining quality assurance inaccordance with hospital, departmental and clinical unit standards.
- Maintain knowledge of technical developments, software updates, and relatedsubjects by attending meetings, continuing education programs, and participationin professional organizations and/or review journals or publications.
- Perform quality assurance procedures and evaluate systems performance.
- Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
- Works independently with limited supervision.
Senior Imaging Technologists will be responsible for one or more of the following duties: *Instruct and/or evaluate the clinical abilities and performance of RadiologyTechnology or sub-specialty students on a clinical rotation. *Participates in training employees in equipment operation, patient movement, and quality assurance. *Assist in creating schedules, vacation planning, on-call coverage *Provides an additional support function for clinical operations. (Example ordering) *Ability to respond to audit inquires including imaging and safety. *Leads audit and improvement efforts for accrediting bodies. Education Required *Senior Imaging Technologist: A bachelor's degree in radiologic technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. *Imaging Technologist: Requires Successful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education is required. - Must maintain current certification in American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and/or other radiologic related technological certification.
- Iowa Permit to Practice as required by the State of Iowa for all technologists operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment.
- 2 years' experience in general radiology.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team-based setting.
- Driver's License and ability to meet University of Iowa Fleet Safety Standards.
Experience Requirementsfor Imaging Technologist
- Must maintain current certification in American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or other radiologic related technological certification.
- Iowa Permit to Practice as required by the State of Iowa for all technologists operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment.

Desirable Qualifications for Senior Imaging Technologist and Imaging Technologist
- Membership in appropriate professional organizations desired.
- Previous work or clinical education experience in general radiology in an acute care environment, Emergency Department/Trauma Center is desired.
- Recent work or clinical education experience in general radiography is desired.
