The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This list of duties is illustrative only, and is not a comprehensive listing of all the functions and responsibilities performed.

Position Summary:
This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position. Responsibilities include a teaching course load, and collaboration with ENMU-Roswell faculty to plan, develop, and implement an animal science judging program. The specific type of judging team (livestock, meats, wool, etc.) will be determined based on the successful applicant's skills and experience. Additional duties include recruiting, mentoring, and coaching students for the ENMU-Roswell Judging Program throughout the year. This position is expected to have evening and weekend work, and travel will be required for practice and competitions both in and out of state. This position reports to the Academic Director and the Dean of Technical Education.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach up to three (3) courses each Fall and Spring semester.
  • Develop and coach a nationally competitive animal science judging team.
  • Assume fiscal responsibility for the judging program.
  • Organize and host judging contests and clinics for ENMU-Roswell, 4-H, and FFA programs, and assist with other judging and Career Development Events (CDE's) in the surrounding region.
  • Serve as a trusted faculty member and foster positive relationships with colleagues, students, andindustry partners.
  • Collaborate with the Agriculture Program Coordinator to support the Agriculture Advisory Board in the development and implementation of all agriculture programs and articulation agreements with four-year universities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.

Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or closely related agriculturally based field.
  • Six months of Animal Science Judging team experience (Livestock, Meats, Wool, etc.).
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • One year of experience working with or supporting special populations as defined by Perkins V.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.

Preferred:
  • Master's degree with an emphasis in an agricultural related field.
  • One year of teaching experience either in formal and/or informal settings, preferably at an institution of higher education.
  • Demonstrated success in coaching an animal science judging team at a collegiate level.

Working Conditions

  • Occasional and/or light lifting required. May involve lifting up to 80 pounds on occasion.
  • Limited exposure to environmental elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., none of which are expected to be hazardous or excessively unpleasant.
  • Work may involve minor safety risks that could result in cuts, bruises, or similar minor injuries.
  • The role requires the ability to meet routine deadlines (typically with adequate lead time), along with flexibility to manage seasonal and predictable variations in workload.
  • This position may involve shifting priorities and occasional interruptions, including demands or pressure from individuals other than the immediate supervisor.
  • Job frequently requires standing, sitting, talking, and hearing.
  • Job occasionally requires walking, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, handling objects and lifting.
  • Work is performed in a non-smoking facility.
