We Require

  • Three years of experience working with animals in a veterinary hospital, humane society, or another animal facility (may include volunteer work)

  • Two years of experience in a supervisor role

  • High school diploma or GED

  • A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

Job Contributions

  • Manage and develop employees into a highly effective team by setting clear performance objectives and goals, providing regular and honest feedback, and creating individualized development plans

  • Oversee the daily completion of animal adoption-related functions per established process control protocols while ensuring the divisions' continual advancement

  • Deliver the highest level of customer service to customers, volunteers, and stakeholders, ensuring that the team delivers to the same standard

  • Conduct routine audits to ensure proper safety protocols, adoption, attendance, and service expectations are continually met. Promptly address concerns

  • Conduct recruitment duties, including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training new adoption team employees

  • Maintain detailed and accurate records, providing reports as necessary

  • Work with leaders to review and update policies and procedures, and ensure that the set policies and procedures are followed

  • Assist with the arrangement of animals for transport, participate in the adoption process, and ensure capacity directives are followed

  • Work with the Volunteer Engagement team to ensure shelter needs are met and support is provided for volunteers assisting with adoption-related tasks

  • Attend meetings and participate in other ACC functions as directed

Working Conditions

  • Must be flexible and able to work all shifts, which include starting as early as 5 am and finishing as late as 7 pm, working weekends and holidays, determined by the needs of the Department

  • Work is predominantly performed in an animal shelter with exposure to extreme and varying temperatures, excessive noise, dogs and cats with unknown temperaments or behaviors, animal waste and fluids, deceased animals, cleaning chemicals, and zoonotic diseases

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk on all types of surfaces that are sometimes slippery, uneven, and rough

  • Must be able to lift up to 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10-20 lbs. constantly
