Position Summary:

The Ski and Ride School Program Coordinator plays a vital leadership role in the planning, execution, and overall success of one or more of our multi-week children's programs. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the assigned program-from pre-season preparation and curriculum development to daily operations and end-of-season wrap-up. The Program Coordinator ensures that each session runs smoothly, safely, and aligned with the Ski and Ride School's standards for quality instruction and guest service.

In addition to administrative and supervisory duties, the Program Coordinator may also teach lessons within their assigned program and provide on-hill support and mentorship to other coaches. This role requires strong organizational skills, a passion for working with children, and the ability to lead by example in a dynamic, outdoor environment.

This is a seasonal position requiring a commitment of 30-40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. Coordinators must be prepared to work up to 7 hours per day outdoors in varying and sometimes inclement weather conditions

Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities:
  • Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate ski or snowboard lessons for 4 to 17 year olds
  • Partner with new or less experienced instructors to co-teach lessons, offering mentorship and modeling effective teaching strategies.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of program-specific learning areas, including signage, equipment, and safety features.
  • Manage program registration prior to the start of the season, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and group leaders, providing clear, timely, and professional communication throughout the program.
  • Create and maintain class rosters, track attendance, and ensure students are placed in appropriate groups based on skill level and age.
  • Organize and lead daily lineups, ensuring smooth transitions between check-in, instruction, and pick-up.
  • Provide on-hill and logistical support to instructors during lessons, addressing any challenges that arise.
  • Communicate program-specific needs, concerns, and successes to Leadership ensuring alignment and support.
  • Plan and execute special events such as theme days, end-of-session celebrations, or parent showcases.
  • Observe staff performance and communicate individual or group training needs to the Training Supervisor to support continuous improvement.
  • Offer regular, constructive feedback to instructors to support their professional growth and improve lesson quality.
  • Hold regular check-ins or meetings with program staff to share important updates, reinforce expectations, and foster team cohesion.

Specific Job Skills:

License/Certification s - PSIA Level 1 certification required and Level 2 preferred.

Technical - Strong understanding of advanced teaching techniques, PSIA/AASI methodologies, and proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams). Experience with Flaik, Siriusware or RTP preferred.

Physical Capabilities
  • Employee must be capable of skiing or snowboarding in all types of terrain in varying and sometimes hazardous snow and weather conditions at an advanced or expert level.
  • Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, in ski/ride equipment.
  • Must be capable of frequently or constantly balancing, reaching, squatting, bending, kneeling, stooping, handling and twisting.
  • May require out of the ordinary skiing or snowboarding movements in order to assist children on the mountain.
  • Must be capable of occasionally carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling up to 75bs.
Additional -

  • Strong understanding of Ski & Snowboard School operations and the guest experience
  • Demonstrated ability to provide great guest service while under duress.

  • Willingness to continue personal development in the realms of people skills, teaching skills and technical skills

Education/Related Experience:

Minimum education required - High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum time in related position - 3+ years teaching in a ski & ride school or similar program, supervisory experience preferred.

Equipment and Safety/Protective Equipment Used:
  • Current and in working condition ski and/or snowboard equipment. Ski bindings required to be tested by our repair shop.
