Description & Requirements

Computational Associate I - Stanley Center - Macosko Lab

The Macosko lab is seeking an exceptional computational associate to join our team that is leveraging cutting-edge genomics measurements of human tissues to understand Parkinson's disease (PD). Recently, the Broad Institute has launched a new Initiative to clarify the pathogenic mechanisms of PD, and nominate new therapeutic targets. Our lab is assembling single-cell and spatial genomics data from postmortem cases and controls, to identify molecular processes that underlie vulnerability of certain types of neurons to degeneration in PD. The successful candidate for this position will be playing a crucial role in developing statistical approaches to elucidate biological findings from these datasets.

The ideal candidate will have a very strong background in machine learning, statistics, and biology. Familiarity with the biology of neurodegeneration is not required.

  • Collaborate with experimentalists and computational biologists to develop and apply statistical and computational techniques to uncover biological principles

  • Create scientifically rigorous visualizations, communications, and presentations of results

  • Contribute to generation of code repositories, publications, and intellectual property

  • Maintain and organize computational infrastructure and resources
