Summary of Job Duties:The successful candidate will use chemical ecology and field entomology tools to identify plant resistance traits and herbivore counter measures in row crops such as Rice, Soybean and Sorghum. Research focus will be on identifying variation for chemical and structural defenses in these crops and understanding the effects of these defenses on growth, development, and dispersal of major herbivores. Responsibilities include the day-to-day design and execution of experiments, grant writing, analysis and interpretation of data, preparation of results for publication and presentation at professional meetings, overall management of the projects and supervision of graduate, and undergraduate students. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in chemical ecology/ entomology/ plant biology, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
  • Experience working in plant response to insect herbivores, and insect behavior using tools and techniques such as EAG, Plant Volatiles collection, Olfactometry, and GC-MS.
