Responsible for comprehensive program management of a graduate and/or undergraduate program or multiple programs. Involves significant outreach due to interdisciplinary programs or external university or corporate partnerships/collaborations including resolving complexities with interdisciplinary or out-of-Pittsburgh programs. Presents to groups and to larger venues. Uses expertise to deal with exception cases.

The position will work directly with the program management team, including faculty director, to manage perspective student, current student and alumni events, consulting for students and curriculum planning. The individual should be enthusiastic about forming strong bonds with students and helping students navigate their relationship with CMU before, during and after their time at the university.

The Director of Administrative Operations provides leadership in developing, managing, and improving the administrative processes to support student success and academic program management.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate the Senior Academic Coordinator.

  • Lead course planning for undergraduate programs including course scheduling, space assignments, and enrollment/waitlist management.

  • Support curricular strategic planning and academic program implementation.

  • Manage regular and ad-hoc student and course data requests to support student persistence, course management, and academic program implementation.

  • Maintain Tableau dashboards.

  • Oversee transfer course equivalency review processes for undergraduate programs.

  • Coordinate regular administrative processes related to student records, Stellic audits, course management, and persistence efforts.

  • Manage minor/additional major declaration processes and intra-major changes.

  • Oversee annual catalog and handbook publications.

  • Provide academic advising to specialized populations including advising meetings, notes, and resource referrals, to promote academic success, self-advocacy, and well-being.

  • Represent Tepper Undergraduate Programs with campus partners (academic advisors, Registrar's Office, Enrollment Management).

  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and major campus events (i.e., orientation, commencement).

  • Other duties assigned as special projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred

  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience required

  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
