The Corporate Information Services Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Sr. Business Analyst

The Sr. Business Analyst works with IT project teams and business clients to collect, clarify, and translate business requirements into documentation and conceptual design from which applications and solutions are developed. The business analyst is an active thought partner and application visionary who shapes technology demand among the business community.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Works with business partners to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements.
  • Liaises with IT project teams to communicate business priorities, translate business requirements into technical requirements and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Facilitates regular requirement gathering and design sessions with user community and communicates expectations to the development team.
  • Negotiates innovative business solutions that satisfy customer needs, are consistent with architectural guidelines, and conform to security standards.
  • Works with multiple stakeholders to assess the impact of proposed solutions, facilitate deployments and minimize disruption to services.
  • Works with business partners to conduct user acceptance testing.
  • Documents user manuals to describe application installation and operating procedures.
  • Coordinates the project resources to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Identifies opportunities for business-led delivery.
  • Provides consultative support on business-led technology initiatives.
  • Adheres to appropriate UHS Project Management standards.
  • Documents project progress using UHS selected project management toolsets.
  • Ensures strict adherence to work plans, reporting all serious deviations to management.
  • Provides on call after hours support as needed.
  • Provides technical support and guidance to other team members as required.
  • Maintains Service Excellence principles.
  • Keeps management well informed of activities, needs, problems.

Qualifications

Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare or technology related field required.
  • 5-8 years of experience in healthcare information technology or project management experience required.
  • Ability to understand business functionality and translate it into application requirements.
  • Ability to create compelling business cases with accurate cost and effort estimations.
  • Excellent understanding of business complexity and project interdependencies.
  • Understanding of hospital workflow and operational processes within a department or interdepartmentally.
  • Microsoft Office - Proficient in Word, Power Point, Outlook, strong understanding of Excel and Visio.
  • GotoWebinar meeting facilitation.
  • Able to communicate clearly and respectfully with all levels at Corporate and with facility personnel.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to set and manage client expectations.
  • Experience leading projects, establishing consensus and moving forward to complete objectives.
  • Knowledge of project management terms and tools, support methods and practices.
  • Learns quickly, takes constructive feedback on performance, stays focused on the job with attention to detail and produces desired outcomes.
  • Advanced working knowledge of clinical information systems and project management software.
  • Strong understanding of basic system engineering, object-oriented design, information risk and security guidelines, and architecture standards.
  • Understanding of the various software development lifecycles (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
  • Understanding of modeling techniques, such as unified modeling language, etc.
  • Experience writing software requirements and test specification, and report specifications.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.

Skills:

  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to question thought partners across functional areas.
  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems that may arise in work products.
  • Ability to partner with multiple stakeholders and influence project decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as ability to present and explain technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and gains understanding.

Travel Requirements: Up to 20% domestic US travel (depending on project need).
