PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Sr. Engineering Specialist works individually, and in a group, to perform routine and non-routine tasks. The Sr. Engineering Specialist is a multi-craft skilled technician. Outside of typical industrial engineering improvement, they perform duties such as machine repairs, fabrication, and preventative maintenance work on planned outages and when assisting the machinist/rebuild specialist. This job is very diverse. The Sr. Engineering Specialist focuses on leading machine and facility improvements through engineering methods.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Associate's degree in a related field with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience
  • Project management and development
  • Experience working with a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Manager System)
  • AutoCAD proficiency



EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:



  • Bachelors in a related field of study with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience or a minimum of 10 years of related industrial/manufacturing maintenance work experience



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

The employee should hold the following abilities:




  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Must possess strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must be detail oriented and can multi-task
  • Must have strong internal and external customer service skills
  • Must work well in a team environment
  • PC skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong mechanical engineering and design skills
  • Able to read and create mechanical blueprints and wiring schematics
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to drive improvements in maintenance systems and processes
  • Ability to perform Break Down Analysis and Root Cause Analysis and report findings
  • Experience working with an array of reliability equipment such as infrared heat guns, vibration monitoring systems, thermal imaging cameras, and laser alignment equipment
  • Knowledge of pumping, pipes and valve operation desirable
  • Working with level, flow and pressure sensors and other instrumentation equipment
  • Experienced with using mills, lathes, drill presses, shears, powered hand tools and general shop equipment
  • Experience using fork trucks, overhead cranes, rigging and hoist equipment



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Maintain Safety Focus for an Injury Free Work Environment



  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Participates in work area self-inspections and accident investigations as well as recommends corrective actions to make the workplace safer.
  • Supports safety initiatives and processes to drive towards zero recordable injuries.
  • Works with a safety focus and engages in activities that support plant safety objectives.
  • Includes safety KPI's and KAI's as primary goals for personal performance.



Improve Plant Profitability



  • Leads actions in line with achieving targets, mitigating risk and prioritizing resource needs.
  • Provides equipment and systems investment analysis.
  • Will be responsible for capital project management when assigned by the Maintenance Leader.


Cross-Functional Leadership and Team Contribution



  • Work across organization boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve plant objectives.
  • Shares best practices (e.g., process improvements, TPM deployment modeling and procedural changes).
  • Aligns teams and resources to solve problems and drive results.


  • Willing to do work that falls outside of this job description to help production and warehouse teams be successful.
  • Champion critical maintenance tasks during planned downtimes.

The base salary range for this position is $76,000-$99,000, with the potential for up to an additional 25% if the applicant hired has additional related qualifications.
