ECMO Specialist

Job Summary:

As an ECMO Specialist, you will provide advanced clinical expertise in Extra Corporeal Life Support (ECLS), Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), and respiratory care to critically ill patients and their care teams. You'll serve as the clinical and technical resource for ECMO equipment, working side-by-side with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and respiratory care practitioners to deliver safe, high-quality, evidence-based care. You'll help shape best practices by participating in unit-based committees, mentoring staff, and supporting research initiatives that advance the ECMO program at Johns Hopkins.



Who Should Apply





    • Associate's degree in respiratory therapy or a related field (Required)
    • Graduate of a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
    • Completion of a comprehensive ECMO training program that follows ELSO standards or acceptance into the ECMO Training program per entity specifications.
    • Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience in age-specific critical intensive care, dependent on the scope of practice of each entity.
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
    • Current state-specific Respiratory Care Practitioner Licensure
    • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association
    • When applicable: PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • When applicable: NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) and STABLE certification when working in NICU.
    • When applicable: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Salary Range: Minimum $39.89/hour - Maximum $68.85/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
