Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist

Provides a wide range of administrative duties to assist with the planning/management/coordination of the department's overall objective. Position is characterized by the need for initiative, the ability to problem solve, the ability to prioritize and organize multiple assignments. Must be able to tactfully and effectively communicate hospital policies and procedures, medical staff policies, bylaws, rules and regulations to physicians, executives, and other individuals both within and outside the hospital. Assists the medical staff in establishing, contributing, and implementation of standards applicable to medical staff members relating to credentialing, and administrative functions. Complies with all applicable regulatory standards.

REQUIRED

1. At least two (2) years experience in medical credentialing
2. Demonstrated knowledge of business correspondence.
3. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, exercise independent judgement and maintain confidentiality.
4. Demonstrated problem solving and decision making abilities.
5. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
7. Must be proficient in the use and application of personal computers and word processing, database, and spreadsheet software programs.
8. Ability to maintain tact and diplomacy
9. High School graduate or equivalent

PREFERRED

1. College degree or equivalent
2. Demonstrated supervisory skills.
3. Certification as a Certified Professional in Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) is encouraged.
4. Knowledge of Joint Commission regulations and other applicable regulations as they relate to the medical staff.
