Job Duties

Products Costing:

  • Prepare and update cost estimates for United States Government (USG) contract proposals and for internal product development.
  • Work with Research & Development (R&D) and Manufacturing to calculate estimated cost for new product launches, as well as changes to existing products.

Cost Analysis & Reporting:

  • Track and analyze material, labor, and overhead costs.
  • Prepare cost variance reports (actual vs. budgeted costs).
  • Monitor cost trends and recommend cost-saving opportunities.

Inventory & Bill of Materials (BOM) Management:

  • Ensure accurate cost allocation for raw materials and components.
  • Analyze BOM for cost optimization.
  • Support inventory valuation and cost adjustments.

Manufacturing Cost Control:

  • Assess work-in-progress (WIP) and finished goods costs.
  • Evaluate standard vs. actual costs and investigate discrepancies.
  • Identify cost drivers and recommend efficiency improvements.

Financial Planning & Compliance:

  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting for production costs.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and industry regulations.
  • Work with auditors on cost-related matters.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.

Experience Requirements

Five years of experience in cost accounting and standard product costing in a manufacturing environment with complex bills of materials is required.

Tools

Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), SAP highly preferred.

Working Conditions

Office setting within a manufacturing environment. Occasions may arise that the Demand Planner be exposed to loud machinery. Must be able to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds unassisted.
