SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking a Pharmacy Supervisor to join our Red Lower Level Pharmacy team. This is a full-time role with benefits, 80 hours per pay period, day/evening rotation with an on-call component.

Purpose of this position: Responsible for directing and coordinating all pharmacy activities within the community pharmacy department and ensuring that the pharmacy provides optimal services daily. Facilitates the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes using appropriate, safe, cost-effective drug therapies and clinical recommendations and directs the acquisition, storage and distribution of medications in the organization.

Maintains high standards within the department and translates pharmacy policies and procedures into the daily operation of the pharmacy in accordance with state and federal law, Board of Pharmacy, The Joint Commission, and the department of public health regulations. Performs the duties of the Pharmacy Manager the event of his or her absence. Supports the values of the organization by demonstrating personal responsibility, respect for self and others, innovation through teamwork, dedication to caring, and excellence in customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Supports and assists the manager and director to integrate departmental and organizational goals into department's activities, while maintaining exceptional service and continuous improvement. This includes developing and implementing action plans related to: employee and/or patient engagement, financial performance, and growth and performance strategies
  • Directly supervises the department team members, including Community Pharmacists, Community Pharmacy Technicians, Community Pharmacy Assistants, Community Pharmacist Interns and Community Pharmacy Students
  • Manages departmental operations, ensuring efficient work processes and adequate staffing levels while maintaining budgetary compliance
  • Leads and supports department team members, overseeing hiring, termination, training, and timely performance evaluations
  • Manages and ensures appropriate documentation of disciplinary processes and performance improvement initiatives to ensure accountability and professional growth
  • Demonstrates operational strategic leadership with budget, department space, equipment, and human resources
  • Will serve as Pharmacist in Charge of department
  • Works with Pharmacy Leadership to develop, evaluate, implement, and direct the department's policies and procedures surrounding drug utilization, quality assurance, pharmacoeconomic and overall strategy. Is responsible for regulatory compliance and following policy and procedure within the department
  • Acts as pharmacist preceptor and organizes learner experiences for students, interns, residents, and fellows
  • Serves as an active member of the Pharmacy Leadership Team and may also contribute to relevant hospital committees related to medication use and patient services
  • Oversee administrative tasks such as timecard management, scheduling, and payroll accuracy, ensuring compliance with labor regulations and operational efficiency
  • Ensures documentation of procedures and activities as appropriate for specific area of responsibility
  • Assists Community Pharmacy Buyer in financial tracking and optimization related to medication spending and reimbursement
  • Completes other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Licensed Pharmacist in the state of MN, or eligible for the same
  • Two years of pharmacy experience with a focus in community pharmacy environment

    • Two years can be a combination of residency and/or pharmacist experience
    • 2-year residency and casual Pharmacist experience
    • 1-year residency and 1 years Pharmacist experience or 2 years Pharmacist experience




Preferred Qualifications:



  • Prior experience in staff management, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation, preferably within a pharmacy or healthcare setting
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Residency Program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists with an emphasis on Health-System Administration
  • Advance certification
  • Proficient in Epic Willow Ambulatory and pharmacy-related computer applications, software, and peripheral hardware
  • Proficient in utilizing computers and technology, including pharmacy automation systems
  • Pharmacy billing and insurance expertise

License/Certifications:



  • Possession of a valid license to practice pharmacy in the State of Minnesota as a pharmacist, or successful licensure with 90 days of hire date
