A mid-sized startup in Los Angeles is looking for a Controller to join their finance team. In this role, you'll lead the day-to-day accounting operations, oversee AP, inventory, and month-end close processes, and serve as a key business partner to the CFO. What do you need for this Controller role?
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA preferred
  • 15+ years of accounting experience, 5+ years of management experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, inventory accounting, and internal controls
  • Experience in a CPG or inventory-heavy environment strongly preferred
  • Advanced NetSuite and Excel skills

What will you do in this Controller role?
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes across multiple entities, including complex inventory and COGS reconciliations
  • Oversee journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Own the full AP cycle - including vendor set-up, invoice processing, and 1099 compliance
  • Provide oversight of inventory accounting: BOM reviews, standard costing, and variance tracking
  • Implement and enhance internal controls over AP, AR, inventory, and other key processes
  • Partner with the CFO on systems improvements, financial operations, and audit readiness
  • Mentor Staff Accountants and help build a scalable, audit-ready finance function

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco by Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to:

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;
  • office location and other geographic considerations;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure.
