Overview
LPN - Breast Surgery Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center is seeking a new Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for their Springfield-Oregon Surgical Wellness location. Nursing duties will be delegated within the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) scope of practice. The successful candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing breast cancer surgery and treatment, contributing to a multidisciplinary approach for optimal patient outcomes, then documenting all elements of care in the patient's medical record. The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $20.80-$42.56. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc. Employment Type: Full time, 40 hrs (1.0 FTE) Benefits: M/D/V, Life Ins., 401(k) Location: Springfield, OR
Responsibilities
- Assist in the assessment and monitoring of patients before, during, and after breast surgical procedures.
- Provide wound care and management of post-operative patients, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols.
- Asks appropriate open-ended questions as well as utilizing computerized algorithms/pathways to assist in the assessment of patient's symptoms and side effect management and documents interventions. Manages a wide range of symptoms.
- If emergency care is needed, collaborate with physicians via electronic communication, face to face, or the telephone to discuss patient care needs that cannot be independently and appropriately addressed using standard orders or practice protocols.
- Documents all conversations with patients to maintain a comprehensive medical record. Provides clear instructions and education to the patients via the telephone.
- Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physician during examination and procedures.
- Pre-operative and post-operative teaching and follow-up.
- Support to clinic staff.
- Electronic prescription monitoring based on prescribed treatment plan.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience in oncology or surgical nursing preferred.
- Experience in women's health preferred.
- Graduate from an accredited program for practical nursing education.
- LPN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Must maintain continuing education requirements.
- Bachelor's Degree in related field, preferred.
