About the Job

Position Overview:

This is a temporary, part-time grant supported position, working approximately 20 hours per week, and is expected to last 12 months with the option to extend based on satisfactory performance, ability of work, and departmental funding. The position may include some early morning, early evening, or weekend hours.

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health is seeking a Research Project Coordinator Generalist to serve on a set of studies in the Program for Health Disparities Research. The successful candidate will assist the Principal Investigators and other study staff with a range of activities related to research, implementation, and evaluation of cancer prevention and screening interventions, including 1) a NIH-funded project to adapt and test an evidence-based intervention to connect Somali parents who smoke with cessation resources, 2) a community-based research pilot intervention to reduce shisha smoke exposure in Somali homes, and 3) other departmental research activities as appropriate. The Research Project Coordinator will be responsible for managing strong and regular communication with and between the study team and participating clinics and community partners and will work closely with the principal investigators and collaborators to ensure its success.

Job Responsibilities:

(20%) Project Management and Communication:

  • Facilitate communication between study teams and collaborators, including community and academic partners, Community Advisory Board (CAB) members, and participating clinics.
  • Ensure the overall project schedule and planning; align the resources when and where needed to meet milestones.
  • Manage and monitor study payments for CAB members and study participants.

(40%) Participant Recruitment and Enrollment:

  • Develop and translate recruitment materials for community and clinic settings.
  • Facilitate data collection through recruitment for and conduct of focus groups and interviews.
  • Educate and consent participants who qualify for the projects.
  • RedCap database management.

(20%) Data Management, Monitoring, and Analysis:

  • Develop and continuously update data collection materials and protocols.
  • Oversee the translation and transcription of qualitative data with external contracting service.
  • Partner with study Principal Investigators to complete qualitative data analysis.
  • Implement and enforce protocols to protect confidentiality of Human Subject data.
  • Maintain and update the databases and monitor to insure data integrity and quality.
  • Perform quality checks on data and monitor all processes.
  • Track and report accrual as required by study sponsors and internal University systems.
  • Prepare data for sharing in a data repository as required by study sponsors and laid out in study data management and sharing plans.

(10%) Study Regulatory Requirements:

  • Collaborate with study regulatory specialists to assure that all IRB and other pertinent UMN systems are adhered to including training requirements and record keeping.
  • Assist in writing study IRB application modifications such as consent forms, recruitment materials, protocol amendments, continuing review, and ongoing reporting documents, as required.

(10%) Project Dissemination:

  • Work with investigators and partners to manage timely completion of project milestones during development and management of the project.
  • Work with investigators and partners to develop and share dissemination products in academic and community contexts.
  • Draft sponsor reports to detail updated activity and sponsor required elements.
Qualifications

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS with at least 2 years of research experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 6 years.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and with changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain deadlines and prioritize assignments.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent in both English and Somali (written & oral).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's in science or public health related field.
  • Experience with participant recruitment in community and clinical settings.
  • Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team, including one using community-engaged approaches.
  • Experience with RedCap database.
  • Experience with qualitative data collection & analysis.

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota was created more than 50 years ago in response to a legislative mandate to train primary care physicians. Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $27.00 to 28.00 per hour, we anticipate most offers will be around the midpoint of this range, depending on education and experience.

Time Appointment: 50% Appointment
