Director - Publications Product Development

Core job responsibilities include:

• Oversee the technical roadmap for customer-facing engagement platforms, ensuring alignment with business objectives and user needs.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive engagement strategy leveraging digital tools, personalization technologies, and analytics to enhance customer interactions across publishing platforms.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers and GTS teams to ensure engagement-related features, releases, and performance enhancements are successfully delivered.
• Maintain an understanding of interdependencies between publishing products, marketing & sales strategies, and branding initiatives to optimize customer retention and satisfaction.
• Strengthen relationships with external vendors and technology partners to enhance engagement functionality and optimize platform performance.
• Work cross-functionally with marketing and UX design teams to ensure user experience aligns with brand vision and customer expectations.
• Support customer service teams by analyzing engagement-related issues and collaborating on effective resolutions.
• Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, assessing opportunities for AI-driven engagement, automation, and innovative content delivery mechanisms.
• Provide direction and guidance to eight direct reports and proactively engage members of the Customer Engagement team along with collaborators across the ACS Publications Division.
• Ability to manage department budget.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

This role could be based in our Washington, D.C., of Columbus., Ohio offices. A reasonable rate of compensation for this position is:

• DC: between $190,000-$230,000 per year.
• Columbus: $170,000-$210,000 per year.

4 years: 4+ years management experience. (required)
* Direct experience with publishing content delivery platforms
*Experience with Atypon Literatum, Sliverchair, or similar online scholarly / professional publishing platforms a plus
*Hands on experience on developing cloud native applications for AWS
*Leading teams in geographically separated regions across multiple time zones

10 years: 10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles with a proven record of delivering complex customer facing applications.
