At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Job Description

Responsible for overseeing the clinical learning at the simulation centers and clinical education programs within the nursing and healthcare fields. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality clinical training and experiential learning, fosters a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and aligns educational initiatives with organizational goals and regulatory standards. Collaborates with academic leaders, clinical staff, and shared services to enhance student learning experiences and outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Clinical Education Oversight:Designs, implements, and evaluates clinical learning programs to ensure staff and students achieve competency in patient care practices.
  • Faculty Development:Recruits, onboards, and mentors clinical faculty, providing guidance on teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and performance evaluation.
  • Program Management:Develops and manages budgets, schedules, and resources for simulation labs and clinical training initiatives, ensuring compliance with accreditation and licensing requirements.
  • Collaboration:Partners with nursing and health leadership, healthcare providers, and shared services to integrate evidence-based practices into clinical education.
  • Quality Assurance:Monitors and assesses the effectiveness of clinical learning outcomes, using data to drive improvements in training and faculty performance.
  • Policy Development:Establishes and updates policies related to clinical education and faculty roles, ensuring alignment with organizational and industry standards.
  • Professional Development:Promotes ongoing education and certification opportunities for clinical faculty and staff to maintain excellence in healthcare delivery.
  • Develops and implements clinical education strategies to enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Oversees the planning and coordination of clinical placements for nursing students.
  • Ensures compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements for clinical education.
  • Conducts regular evaluations of clinical learning experiences to ensure quality and effectiveness.
  • Manages the operation and maintenance of simulation labs and equipment.
  • Develops and implements simulation scenarios to support clinical education.
  • Provides training and support to faculty and staff on the use of simulation technology.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of simulation-based learning activities and make improvements as needed
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with clinical partners and healthcare organizations.
  • Collaborates with clinical partners to secure clinical placements and ensure a positive learning environment for students.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for clinical partners and address any issues or concerns related to clinical placements.
  • Leads, supervises, and evaluates clinical instructors and staff.
  • Provides mentorship and professional development opportunities for clinical instructors.
  • Conducts performance reviews and provide feedback to clinical instructors and staff.
  • Participates in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of clinical instructors and staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with integrated technology systems and tools.
  • Proven record of success in working with adult students, assessment of learning outcomes, student advisement, and distance education.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Education

  • Master's degree in a school/discipline related field; in lieu of the educational requirement, a bachelor's degree and five (5) years of direct experience applicable to the position may be accepted. Education is verified and must be from an accredited institution .

Experience

  • Three (3) years of leadership or supervisory experience in the following areas: managing projects in a fast-paced and complex environment, leading cross-functional teams, leading teams to impact organizational outcomes through specific interventions, facilitating training, analyzing data, using data to drive decisions, presenting to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Terminal degree from an accredited institution in a school/discipline related field (enter specific field as required).
  • Applicable licenses or certifications.
  • Experience leading process improvement projects.
  • Compliance and Accreditation experience.
  • Experience in clinical education or a related field.
  • Experience with simulation-based learning and clinical placements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Work Environment:

This role operates in a hybrid setting, primarily a remote office, however travel to labs and/or clinical locations is required. Additionally, some travel may be required to collaborate with faculty or attend professional development events.
