Inova Fairfax Medical Campus Clinical Engineering is looking for a dedicated Director of Clinical Engineering Services to join the Team. This role will be a full-time day-shift from Monday - Friday.

The Director of Clinical Engineering Services provides strategic leadership and enterprise oversight for Clinical Engineering operations across Inova Health System. This role is responsible for ensuring the consistent, safe, and high-quality delivery of biomedical and clinical technology support services in alignment with Inova's mission, regulatory requirements, and operational objectives. The Director leads the development and implementation of system-wide standards, service models, and compliance frameworks while driving innovation, resource optimization, and workforce development. Through strong collaboration with clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders, the Director ensures Clinical Engineering Services contributes meaningfully to patient safety, clinical excellence, and enterprise performance.

Director of Clinical Engineering Services Job Responsibilities:



  • Leads Clinical Engineering Services across Inova, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective support for medical equipment and technology.
  • Serves as the system's strategic representative for clinical technology in enterprise projects, safety councils, and executive initiatives.
  • Oversees regulatory compliance with Joint Commission, FDA, OSHA, and other standards; ensures audit readiness across all sites.
  • Develops and implements system-wide policies, service standards, and performance metrics to drive operational excellence.
  • Directs hiring, development, and performance of managers and technical staff to build a high-performing, service-oriented team.
  • Manages capital and operating budgets, lifecycle planning, and vendor relationships for biomedical technology assets.
  • Drives quality improvement and innovation initiatives aligned with Inova's mission and long-term clinical technology strategy.
  • Collaborates with clinical and administrative leaders to ensure timely, customer-focused service delivery and technology support.
  • Provides expert consultation on equipment selection, safety, integration, and risk mitigation during construction and expansion projects.
  • Leads enterprise response and recovery efforts related to equipment safety alerts, recalls, and emergency technology readiness.
  • Oversees assigned department or functional area to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but not limited to, preparing and implementing business strategy to achieve the organization's goals, ensuring legal compliance, communicating and collaborating with stakeholders, managing employment decisions and contributions of supporting team members, and managing departmental budget and fiscal success.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Electronics or equivalent program or equivalent years of biomedical engineering experience
  • Experience: 10 years of Biomedical Engineering experience in a hospital setting, Electrical and Mechanical experience; 7 years of progressive management experience
