POSITION SUMMARY

Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for a Vendor Qualification and Performance Manager at our Marinette, Wisconsin location. The Vendor Qualification and Performance Manager's (VQPM) primary responsibilities will be to assist the Director of Purchasing Compliance to manage the Fincantieri Marinette Marine vendor list, re-defining the vendor qualification/ requalification and monitoring process. The VQPM will analyze current vendor performance and provide proper input to the Director of Purchasing Compliance about scorecard results and support the creation and monitoring of improvement plans for mid-low performers and vendor phase-out. The VQPM will provide recommendations to the Director of Purchasing Compliance to ensure business continuity with respect to vendor selection and vendor performance monitoring which supports FMM business needs and avoid disruptions to program performance of FMM. VQPM will support the Purchasing Managers efforts in supplier development and supplier due diligence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Duties can change and may be reassigned as needed.



  • Developing and sustaining long-standing relationships with company-approved vendors.
  • Supervising the qualification / requalification process of suppliers for introduction/ maintenance in the Fincantieri Marinette Marine Vendor List as well as Vendor Portal;
  • Reviews all request for addition to the vendor master for validity and accuracy
  • Evaluate and review, if necessary, the qualification criteria within the Supply Chain dept. and its leadership;
  • Implementing vendor selection programs to ensure that the best vendors are secured.
  • Define and standardize the type and number of information collected from the qualified suppliers (ex. organization chart, financial information, core business, other docs contractually needed, etc.) as well as their updating needs in time; work with the Supply Chain team (buyers, leads and planner) to collect information from the qualified suppliers as well as newly approved vendors.
  • Conducting survey interviews with new vendors and informing approved vendors of their responsibilities and obligations.
  • Represent the company reference for all summary information relating to the Fincantieri Marinette Marine Suppliers' Vendor List and support the Operational Functions in verifying the status and performance of strategic suppliers (i.e., small business reports, sustainability, etc.);
  • Define criteria and related KPIs to monitor, track and maintain suppliers' performance by category item (i.e., scorecard) establishing standards by which to assess the performance of approved vendors.
  • Monitor the performance of suppliers to maintain the "qualified" status and manage any critical issues by defining appropriate improvement plans / actions with the support of the competent functions/department;
  • Maintain and keep up-to-date the Fincantieri Marinette Marine Suppliers' Vendor List using ERP tools;
  • Create summary reports and prepare information sharing meetings.
  • Provide Executive Level briefings to Procurement/Supply Chain Senior Leadership at regular intervals to help keep them current with changes and performance against existing agreements with vendors.
  • Assists with the development and execution of key vendor risk management activities.
  • Detailed supervision of the following activities:

    • Supplier Qualification.
    • Supplier evaluation check list.
    • Suppliers Audit check list and Audit set up with proper cross-functional team.
    • Supplier Performance Improvement Plans (supported by proper functions/department);
    • Evaluation Supplier Performance (Scorecard);
    • Supplier Register Management


  • Ensure enterprise-wide needs for due diligence, risk assessment and continuing vendor monitoring are being accomplished.
  • Participate to formulate workflow processes, methods and policies for applying vendors.
  • Ensure alignment between improvements plans goals and deadlines and Fincantieri Marinette Marine stakeholders' expectations on supplier performance;
  • Develop a sensitivity by macro item category in relation of possible related impact to Fincantieri Marinette Marine operations so to optimize and focus qualification criteria, KPIs, performance monitoring, warning rise and improvement plans set up based on awareness of case-by-case real need.
  • Must adhere to and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.
