Position Highlights The Tigreros lab in the Department of Entomology at the University of Arizona is currently recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate I to lead research projects in ecological physiology and nutritional ecology in Pieris rapae butterflies. Stressful conditions, -including extreme climate and the shortage of food- can heighten resource allocation tradeoffs between competing traits, like growth vs. flight vs. fecundity. The University of Arizona's Department of Entomology is a global leader in insect science, providing groundbreaking research, hands-on teaching, and impactful outreach programs to serve the people of Arizona and beyond.

This is a year-to-year appointment, contingent upon funding and performance.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plan and lead experiments.
  • Acquire and analyze data.
  • Supervise and mentor undergraduate students.
  • Prepare and submit peer-reviewed journal articles and present their work at professional conferences.
  • Depending on their interests and expertise, they will also be encouraged to expand the project.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Expertise in animal physiology and/or organism ecology.
  • Excellent speaking and written English language skills
Minimum Qualifications
  • Upon hire, a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field including, but not limited to ecophysiology, evolutionary ecology, behavioral ecology.
  • Proven record of publications.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in ecophysiology and plant-insect interactions.
