Research Assistant Professor of Communications 41230BR Veterinary Medicine Position Description The Texas Tech University (TTU) School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) is seeking to fill a non-tenure track faculty position to expand our world-class medical communication research associated with our vibrant veterinary medical education program in Amarillo, TX. We invite applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track Research Assistant Professor of Practice appointment, with a start date of September 1, 2025. About the College The Purpose of the TTU SVM is to serve the veterinary educational and veterinary service needs of rural and regional communities, and to provide access to affordable high-class education. The TTU SVM is co-located in Amarillo, Texas, with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) regional campus. The TTU SVM enjoys state-of the art facilities, and maintains populations of domestic animals, and the region is home to large numbers of horses, production animals and wildlife providing further opportunities for field-based scholarship. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Council on Education (COE) granted the TTU SVM provisional accreditation in 2021. The School has enrolled its first four classes and graduated its inaugural cohort of students. Furthermore, it has established a first-in-the-nation PhD in One Health Sciences and a MS in Veterinary Science. About the Department/School/Area Amarillo is a vibrant and growing community in the Texas Panhandle. With a metropolitan statistical area population in excess of 270,000, it offers attractions of a larger city while holding true to its agricultural roots. Amarillo serves as a regional center of services for a large, multi-state area and is home to many agricultural associations such as the Texas Cattle Feeders Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. Amarillo is a diverse city and home to a celebrated arts community, outdoor activities, and Historic Route 66. Amarillo is served by major air carriers at a modern international airport, and is within driving distance of Dallas, Austin, Denver, Oklahoma City, Santa Fe, and other major metropolitan cities. Major/Essential Functions At the School of Veterinary Medicine, research informs delivery of an evidenced-based medical curriculum and advancing the sciences in support of, and adjacent to, veterinary medicine. In addition to the veterinary medical education program, the School is home to the One Health Sciences PhD program (the first in the US) and a MS in Veterinary Sciences. These two programs represent the School's commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary and interprofessional health-related research activities, and excellence in comparative medicine. This position seeks to expand research capabilities in andragogical scholarship with a focus on clinical medical communication and medical education.
