Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Sr. Network Engineer to join our IT department in our Fairfax, VA office. Responsibilities: Installation and troubleshooting of networking hardware to include Routers, Switches, Firewalls for local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) systems. Coordinate special projects related to LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements.

Required Skills & Required Experience: Any combination of education and training equivalent to possession of a bachelor's degree in computer science, information engineering or other related areas; such education should be at a level which demonstrates the ability to perform responsibilities listed.

Responsibilities

    Installation and troubleshooting of network hardware including Cisco Nexus switches, firewalls, IDS/IPS systems and Meraki SD-WAN.
  • Administration of Cisco data center network utilizing Nexus switching platforms in an ACI environment.
  • Coordination of special projects related to LAN/WAN and IPT hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements.
  • Maintenance and management of Cisco Meraki Infrastructure that includes MX, MS, MT, MR, MV & MG devices in a large, distributed environment.
  • Network access control utilizing Cisco ISE for distributed wireless and wired networks.
  • Network health monitoring utilizing industry leading technologies.
  • Discover, design, plan, and implement next-generation networks using the latest technology and network automation.
  • Integrate Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) frameworks, leveraging Cisco Secure Connect.
  • Follow life-cycle oriented processes and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade, and provide solutions to complex hardware/software problems.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation for all network systems.
  • Provide Tier 3 support for escalated network issues, performing advanced diagnostics and resolution.
  • Create and execute test plans to meet project requirements for assigned components.

  • Bachelor's Degree in IT related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10+ years' experience in a distributed network environment.
  • Cisco CCNP/Meraki CMSS or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience with software defined networking (SDN/SDWAN) in a Meraki environment.
  • Proven expertise with Cisco Secure Connect and cloud managed security services.
  • Experience with Cisco Umbrella.
  • Experience with Cisco Nexus switching platforms is required.
  • Experience with SASE, SD-WAN and Zero Trust architectures.
  • Fluent with Design and Implementation of Cisco networking technologies, including the following: Cisco Meraki SD-WAN w/ Cisco Secure Connect, advanced switching, routing, and firewall technologies.
  • Knowledge of Cisco network equipment including: Cisco Nexus 9000 series switches, Cisco Catalyst 9000, Firepower/Threat Defense Firewalls.
  • Knowledge of network/internet Protocols/Services such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, VXLAN, LACP, DNS, TCP/IP, VPN, QoS.
  • Knowledge of wireless networking to include WiFi 7 and be able to resolve connectivity, interference, authentication and coverage issues in a Meraki environment.
  • Ability to work weekends and/or off hours as necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to demonstrate solid attention to detail.
  • History of balancing competing priorities with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines.
  • US Citizenship required.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with ThousandEyes experience monitoring.
  • Experience with Cisco ISE or other Network Access Control Methodology.
  • Experience with Cisco APIC, ACI and VXLAN.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco XDR.
  • Design/Deployment experience with Microsoft Teams Rooms, including Logitech Rally systems and Shure Intellimix platform.
  • Scripting or automation experience is a plus.
