Job Description:

THIS IS AN IN-OFFICE ROLE FOR MINNEAPOLIS, MN. (4 days in the office, 1 flex day each week.)

We seek a Data Analyst to support our Mission Critical sector in Operational Excellence, Insights, and project teams to find meaningful connections between internal company data and broad market analytics that will drive smarter business decisions and develop deeper relationships with our clients.

Operational focus areas of this role include:

Internal Data Mining / Process Improvement

  • Partner with Mission Critical leaders to provide data analysis and solutions around operational challenges.

  • Organize data with the following goals in mind: accuracy, speed of access, ease of access, and flexibility. Identify patterns or trends to support core operational decisions.

  • Influence existing data collection processes by recommending improvements, workflow modifications, systems, or tool enhancements to ensure quality data.

  • Combine financial and ops data to improve visibility, annual budgeting/hiring processes, pursuit planning, staffing, estimates, design management and day-to-day risk mitigation.

  • Create a consistent process to capture, filter, aggregate, and output project level lessons learned.

  • Explore and analyze data generated by development, design, and construction to look for efficiency gains.

  • Build, test, maintain, and train on dashboards and PowerApps where analysis / trends are communicated.

Relationship Development / Skill Enhancement

  • Become a data subject matter expert to support process improvement, quality, technology, and OpEx program consistency across the entire organization.

  • Gain exposure to all business units within Ryan to represent all interests in data collection and analytics.

  • Support operational alignment between internal business units through consistent tool use and decision making, while representing the interests of all service lines.

  • Work with service line leaders to create benchmarks for ops tracking and active risk management.

  • Layer internal and external data sets to provide predictive modeling.

  • Work in a team setting and collaborate with other data analysts and technology partners.

Strategic Solutions / Innovative Analytics

  • Identify opportunities to integrate and align data solutions to meet Ryan strategic goals / annual priorities.

  • Partner with organization change leader to create and maintain a data set of all initiatives and projects to align work efforts and communicate priorities to internal Team Members.

  • Work with tech dev to source and visualize external facing RE portfolios of our dev and land positions.

  • Identify national and regional resources and data sets to support growth model development.

  • Partner with development, A+E, and precon teams to create a pursuit workflow, pulling together all known information into one "source of truth" for quick decision making and knowledge sharing.

  • Create models to support predictive analytics for our project teams, providing recommended next actions based on internal performance data and available peer and client benchmarks.

To be successful in this role, you must have a bachelor's degree in data analytics, data science or a business-related field of study and 5+ years of Analyst experience. You must also have experience with data visualization tools, data querying (SQL) and data interpretation skills. A successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to learn in a fast-paced collaborative environment.

  • Effectively communicate with individuals at various levels of the technical and business services lines.

Appendix A: Immediate Areas of Focus

  • Dashboard Consolidation - Review use of current operational dashboards; archive, consolidate, or update to simplify platforms and reporting for project teams and leaders.

  • Safety and Schedule Health - Review construction team data generated by safety inspections, daily reports, schedule updates, and 3rd party tool schedule analysis to identify trends and portfolio benchmarking.

  • Accounts Receivable - must provide visibility to construction leadership in a meaningful and actionable manner to collect on aged receivables. Evaluate adjusting fees for repeat customers with delayed payments.

  • Historical Project Performance - provide meaningful historical data to decision makers as a part of the fee analysis, go/no go process.

  • Annual Scorecards / Strategy Engagement - update regional and sector scorecards to represent new 2030 strategic plan objectives and annual business metrics. Create shared service scorecards.

  • Budget Tracking / Team Financials Visualization - Assist construction leaders in assessing performance from monthly team financial reports through use of data visualization.

  • Emerging Business Inclusion - increase visibility and support project-team self-service during the bidding, contract award and project-level reporting around diverse business goals.

  • Sustainability - define metrics, create data sets, and support measurement and verification of the project sustainability plan across all lines of business.

  • Quality Assurance and Control - Create performance metrics to track adoption and impact of the design and construction quality program. Assist with warranty tracking and erosion reduction.

  • Total Project Success & Trade Partner Experience - partner with initiative leads to define success metrics, provide data visualization support, and create meaningful feedback to project teams.

  • Operational Staffing Projections - based on Ryan's current volume how can we best project the FTEs required to execute on the work and adjust staffing proactively rather than reactively. Feed staffing requirements to profit projections validating appropriate hours against substantial completion dates.

  • Developer Scorecards - Work with stakeholders to create, maintain and support developer scorecards that focus on historical and future information to enable strategic decision making around pursuits.

  • Project Health Redesign - Work with stakeholders to redesign existing report to provide better information and insights to project teams that lead to improved project outcomes.

  • Operational Execution Reporting - Coordinate with finance team to produce monthly operational enhancement and erosion reporting and find ways to further automate this process. In addition, help the business understand the importance of bifurcating operational erosion from financial erosion and the application of each.

  • Time Tracking Reporting - Work with stakeholders to understand the importance of time tracking data and how benchmarking against historical data can lead to faster and more accurate budgeting and forecasting processes.

  • Investment Dashboard Reporting - Work with stakeholders to update, maintain and enhance Investment reporting.

  • Advanced Analysis for Incentive Compensation Model - Provide further analysis to support proposed change in incentive compensation for construction teams.

Compensation:

The annual base pay range is $90,000 to $124,000. The base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission and/or an incentive program.
