Position Summary:
The North American Procurement team manages significant spend across direct and indirect spend categories including commodities, ingredients, packaging, indirect and capital spend in a fast growing and challenging environment. The team is focused on driving productivity and promoting risk mitigation while developing and implementing category strategies. Other initiatives include supporting sustainability and innovation agendas.
The Sourcing Manager, Operations Spend works collaboratively with stakeholder groups across North America to create and implement strategic sourcing strategies across key operational categories, including MRO and facility management. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring cost efficiency, supplier performance, and alignment with organizational goals while fostering cross-functional collaboration and innovation. The individual in this role provides procurement leadership, support and expertise in the areas of supplier negotiations and contract development for corporate areas of spend, as well as being an effective collaborator and support within the procurement department. In addition to supporting functional initiatives from a Purchasing perspective, this Manager also acts as project leader for Purchasing cost-savings initiatives on behalf of the organization, targeting annual productivity goals.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Working closely with operations stakeholders and leaders within the business; building sourcing strategies for key categories, analyzing user needs, and identifying potential new supply sources.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional regional/global teams to achieve strategic category alignment and successful implementation.
  • Conduct transparent procurement events and processes, including TCO, RFI, RFQ, SWOT, and Cleansheet evaluations to construct clear business proposals.
  • Ensure best practices are deployed across the sourcing lifecycle and aligned with procurement objectives.
  • Negotiate value-maximizing proposals and leverage category scale at regional or global levels.
  • Develop, execute, and monitor contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Manage contract renewals and amendments as needed.
  • Oversee supplier management processes, including selection, performance tracking through KPI's, and implementing supplier relationship management practices. Encourage supplier-driven innovation.
  • Performing Data Analysis and Reporting - collect and analyze data related to supplier performance, compliance and cost savings. Ability to generate reports and presentations, highlighting key metrics, trends, and achievements.
  • Leading cost reduction initiatives in conjunction with suppliers and internal business units to meet annual cost reduction targets in assigned categories.
  • Liaison with Accounts Payable Group for resolution of escalated payment issues, supplier invoice process through auditing, analysis and approval.
  • Involvement in preparing business review presentations.
  • Provide business units with budget projections
  • Performs special projects as assigned.
Key Behavioral Competencies:
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, and detail oriented
  • Minimum 5 years related experience in procurement and sourcing
  • Strong analytical, prioritization, negotiation, and decision-making skills
  • Proven ability to implement procurement processes and coordinate across multiple sites
  • Knowledge of ERP / Office Suite Systems / Expertise in Excel and Power Point
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communications, and presentation skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing and measuring work
  • Track record of building strong peer and stakeholder relationships
Education & Work History:
  • 5-10 years of experience in a procurement role. Expertise in CAPEX, MRO, and facility management categories is preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish and/or French desirable)
  • Strong leadership and ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills
  • Ability to conduct complex administrative studies, analyze processes and issues, and develop recommendations for improvement or resolution.
  • Team player capable of dealing with many internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • A highly energetic individual, ability to multitask and prioritize projects, and find creative solutions to meet business objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools esp. Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Oracle ERP
  • Ability to track and resolve issues regarding Value Realization on specific projects and solutions
  • May involve 10-15% travel to BBU and Bimbo Canada meetings, suppliers, affiliates, trade shows, etc.
