Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Senior Marine Structural Engineer to join our Tampa office. As part of the Structural Group, the Senior Engineer will perform project management and design for waterfront structures and marine infrastructures projects, including marinas, vessel mooring and berthing structures, bulkheads, breakwater and shore protection structures. The ideal candidate has 10-15 years' experience working on projects from conceptual layout through the design process.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Leading, managing, and performing on waterfront projects relating to near-shore platforms, trestles, wharves, piers, docks, bulkheads, mooring/breasting structures, and liquid, gas, container and bulk terminals
  • Structural analysis, design, and detailing for concrete, steel, timber, etc.
  • Inspection, authoring assessment reports and developing rehabilitation plans of waterfront structures
  • Urban waterfront projects
  • Management of marine structural projects and teams
  • Developing construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates and structural calculation packages
  • Knowledge of shoreline protection material and breakwaters design
  • Awareness of project budgets, contracting strategies, scheduling document preparation and support and evaluation
  • Assist with mentoring and developing younger engineers

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering; required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; required
  • 10-15 years of experience in shoreline Marine structural engineering design and project management with a consulting firm or waterfront, port, or marine related client; required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Florida or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire; required
  • DOD marine structural engineering project experience; a plus
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with a team approach
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Availability and willingness to travel
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Working conditions:

This position can be hybrid, work in office and work from home available. Position will still need to be based out of the Tampa office so cannot be fully remote.

Physical requirements:

Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.
