Director of Marketing

Job Purpose:

The purpose of the Director of Marketing role is to oversee the Gordon Flesch Company's Marketing department, to create and execute against a marketing strategy that accomplishes the goals and objectives of the organization. To advise, direct and manage all aspects of the marketing department and work with Sales to maximize the profitability of the products and services sold.

Responsibilities:



  • Work cross-functionally with company owners, executive leadership team and branch managers to develop a multi-channel, fully-integrated annual marketing plan.
  • Work with senior staff to develop, support and maintain a strategic perspective in organizational direction, based on marketplace and industry trends and best practices, customer needs and satisfaction.
  • Create, develop and lead the Marketing team to execute an integrated, cross-platform social media strategy that is measurable and impactful and drives awareness and brand affinity. Focus on creating high-traffic blog content, lead-converting resources, and sharable creative projects.
  • Develop successful direct mail campaigns that create leads and drive sales.
  • Ensure consistent, appropriate articulation of the Gordon Flesch Company image and brand promise both inside and outside the organization, including during the RFP process.
  • Leverage RFP automation software (Loopio) to assist the sales team in developing responses to Requests For Proposals.
  • Leverage Inbound Marketing Automation Software (Hubspot) to ensure marketing team and overall content meet or exceed company goals. Drive key business metrics including leads, MQLs, SQLs and Opportunities. Make data-driven decisions based on valid metrics.
  • Lead, execute, and coordinate all aspects for special organizational initiatives such as Key Account Management, including development of strategy, messaging, tactics and tools that facilitate easy adoption by internal associates and external customers
  • Manages and facilitates the marketing side of partner relationships with key product and service providers to leverage the marketing assets developed by those partners for the benefit of the Gordon Flesch Company.
  • Lead, direct and oversee all outside marketing firms such as communications agencies, marketing research companies and other vendors that provide support for elements of the annual marketing plan
  • Develop, negotiate, and manage activation of all sponsorships with sports teams and local event providers.
  • Coordinate sales events, including timelines, venues, vendors, and budgets. Identify and secure speakers, special guests, and/or entertainment for each event. Analyze the success of each event and propose creative new improvements to the attendees' experience. Follow up with surveys and report back to stakeholders on Net Promoter Scores.
  • Provide creative direction on brand-level video, web, and graphic design projects. Develop in-house photography and video that supports project needs.
  • Establish a sustainable, strategic approach to PR that adds value to industry and channel media.
  • Coordinate the consistent and appropriate appearance of all organizational marketing assets and materials, both digital and printed.
  • Develop short- and long-term plans and budget for marketing/communications/public relations programs and activities, monitor and report progress/accomplishments as company management requests.
  • Supervise the Marketing team including hiring, firing, work allocation, training, and problem resolution.
  • Support and advocate the Company mission, vision, values and guiding principles.
  • Conduct leadership components of the performance review process including establishing appropriate and measurable goals, reviewing progress throughout the year, documenting performance, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Ensure that the work environment is safe, including compliance with OSHA standards and documentation.
  • Autonomously make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Miscellaneous job duties as assigned.


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree or comparable level of experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 8-10 years marketing experience
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience
  • Experience in direct and interactive marketing
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications

  • Degree in Marketing
  • Project Management Experience
