The starting rate for this position is $19.07, incremental increases are earned through developing skills and qualifications.
Summary
Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, this position is responsible for all aspects of maintaining layer houses, including maintenance responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Commit and adhere to Daybreak Foods industry leading Animal Welfare practices and standards.
* Ensure that chickens have a proper supply of the following: Feed, light, air, water.
* Ensure the security of chickens and the premises by keeping all facility doors locked to protect birds from predators, external climate, and unauthorized personnel.
* Monitor complexes and remove mortality.
* Monitor, clean, and maintain the ventilation system inside of buildings.
* Monitor manure belts daily and check for problems.
* Sweep and clean different areas of the buildings and hallways.
* Perform and assist with regular preventive maintenance such as repairing, oiling, greasing, and timing of equipment.
* Assist with tasks associated with moving birds in and out of houses.
* Assist in the cleaning of houses between flocks.
* Document completed tasks on a daily and weekly basis.
* Perform other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience
* High School Education, GED, or equivalency preferred
* Basic Preventive Maintenance experience required
* Agricultural experience (1 Year experience in the poultry industry or production agriculture preferred)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Ability to read, speak, and write English is preferred.
* Bi-lingual in Spanish and English preferred but not required.
* Basic mechanical knowledge.
* Working knowledge of agricultural operations preferred. Basic mechanical skills.
* Good communication skills.
* Basic computer operating skills.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* Mechanical aptitude.
* Ability to read, calculate and understand basic production statistics such as: Percent production, lbs. feed per 100 birds, case weight, other measurements as required.
* Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to achieve objectives.
* Detail orientation.
* Ability to interact with individuals from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
Physical Demands
Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 10 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. The ability to wear a half-face respirator, which requires medical testing.
Work Environment
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. Temperature varies in relation to the outside temperature. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Proper personal protective equipment will be required during certain working conditions.
* Temperatures ranging from 68 to 100 degrees F.
* May have to work outside in any weather.

* Showering in and changing into a uniform is required. Showering out is optional. Uniforms are provided by Daybreak Foods, Inc.
* Work schedule will include some weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, and/or extended shifts with all complex requirements met daily without fail.
