Overview
Are you a seasoned construction quality management professional with electrical and low-voltage systems expertise? MBP seeks an Electrical Quality Assurance Representative to join our growing team in the Washington-Baltimore Metropolitan Area. If you have a proven track record in quality assurance and control, particularly in electrical systems, and experience managing complex projects in healthcare, laboratory, education (higher ed and K-12), and/or federal or local government sectors, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities
What You'll Do: As an Electrical Quality Assurance Representative, you will oversee the quality assurance and control of electrical systems installation across a wide range of projects. You'll represent our clients on-site, ensuring all electrical and low-voltage systems meet industry standards and project requirements. Responsibilities include:
Representing the client on-site, providing quality assurance, documentation, cost control, and time management-related services.
- Performing field checks of "red-line" as-built plans to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Conducting on-site inspections for compliance with specifications, codes, approved shop drawings, materials, and permit requirements.
- Coordinating and managing QA/QC activities and documentation.
- Identifying, tracking, and reporting deficient work until resolved.
- Participating in and documenting project meetings.
- Preparing and assisting with weekly and monthly progress reports.
- Participating in final inspections, preparing punchlists, and verifying punchlist completion.
- Reviewing comprehensive project records, including daily reports, inspection photos, workforce logs, and materials/equipment records.
- Advising contractor representatives to ensure conformance with plans and specifications.
- Supporting analytical tasks like constructability reviews, cost estimating, change order analysis, and schedule review.
- Reviewing contractor submittals and CPM schedules as authorized.
- Assisting in claims avoidance coordination, if required.
- Providing professional customer service to stakeholders, including the public and adjacent property owners.
- Implementing field adjustments as necessary.
- Ensuring all phases of electrical work align with contract terms and performance standards.
Qualifications
Who We Are Looking For: Education/Knowledge:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate's degree plus eight years of relevant experience, or bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or related field plus five years preferred.
- OSHA 30-hour certification (or ability to obtain within three months of hire).
- Extensive knowledge of electrical codes, systems, methods, tools, and materials.
- Considerable construction-related training or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of construction inspection tasks from routine to highly complex.
- Working knowledge of basic math and field measurements.
Preferred Certifications:
- CQM (Construction Quality Management).
- CCM (Certified Construction Manager).
- Journeyman or Master Electrical certification/license.
Experience:
- 10+ years of combined education and/or experience in construction quality management, with demonstrated expertise in planning and inspecting the installation of electrical and low-voltage systems.
- Experience with healthcare, laboratories, K-12 and higher education, and federal/local government projects preferred.
- Familiarity with SCIFs and data centers is a plus.
- Evidence of progressive career development.
Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise in QA/QC techniques for electrical systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage technical issues, documentation, and client communication.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with clients, contractors, and team members.
- Ability to interpret construction plans, specs, and codes.
- Skilled in applying math and engineering principles to field decisions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, email, web tools, and specialized equipment.
- Ability to recognize and resolve quality issues proactively.
- Physical ability to work outdoors, climb ladders, and navigate uneven terrain.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
