Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire an Instructional Designer II.

Be a part of the University's instructional design team which provides pedagogical and instructional design consultation and support services for effectively developing distance and hybrid courses, as well as using academic technologies to support on-campus courses and instruction.

Collaborate with others to develop distance or hybrid courses, transforming traditional formats when necessary. Assist faculty in utilizing the learning management system and other technologies. Working closely with faculty, the designer seamlessly integrates pedagogy and academic technology in course design, guides instructional strategy selection, and recommends learning tools based on research and best practices.

Responsibilities extend to developing training materials and providing professional development to faculty, emphasizing current research for effective, inclusive, and accessible online learning experiences that foster active student engagement. The role demands both independent and team-oriented work, necessitating positive relationships within the academic community.

Project management skills are crucial, ensuring the successful completion of multiple projects within established timelines.

Requires on-campus presence during scheduled activities that require CFE or instructional design support. Full time presence may be required during the on-boarding phase to ensure effective integration with our University's culture and workflows. After successfully completing onboarding and training there is the possibility of working remotely. Remote work arrangements are subject to the approval of the managing supervisor and permitted or restricted at their discretion. Remote work arrangement is contingent upon meeting performance expectations, demonstrating self-motivation, and maintaining effective communication with team members and supervisors.

Key Responsibilities



  • Work collaboratively with faculty, administrators and staff to create distance or hybrid courses; guide the selection and development of instructional strategies for the distance and hybrid environment.
  • Supports campus-based courses; identify and apply the appropriate blend of pedagogy and academic technology into course design; guide the selection and development of instructional strategies for the distance, hybrid, and on-ground courses based on education research and best practices.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting support to faculty for use of the learning management system as well as other university-supported instructional technologies.
  • Develop and lead faculty workshops, face-to-face and virtual, based on sound pedagogic principles for distance and hybrid education, using academic technology tools to deliver distance and hybrid courses and support on-ground teaching and learning.
  • Research published information on e-learning and related instructional topics to keep current on effective strategies and best practices in instructional design and academic technology.



Qualifications



  • MS or MA in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Educational Technology or related field
  • 3+ years of experience performing instructional design services in an academic environment, preferably in a higher education setting
  • Applying the QM Rubric certification preferred
