The salary range for this role, based in Kentucky, is $138,000.00 to $172,500.00. The range will vary if outside of this location. Base salaries are determined during our interview process, by assessing a candidate'sexperience, skills against internal peers and against the scope and responsibilities of the position.

Position Summary

As a key member of the global and regional leadership team, the incumbent will engage with Health and Safety leaders globally, influencing strong leadership and deep expertise to deploy standards, assess performance and drive continuous improvement.

The Director of Health, Safety and Wellbeing operates in close alignment with the Global Health and Safety team to ensure that regional strategies and initiatives are consistent with global Health and Safety and Wellbeing standards and objectives. While the regional role focuses on execution and compliance within specific local sites, it also contributes valuable local insights to help shape and refine global policies

This position will have overall responsibility for both Industrial and Non Industrial safety across the North America region with a focus on driving safety and wellbeing culture transformation.

Key responsibilities in this leadership role include managing Health and Safety teams across the region, developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs and policies to ensure the well-being of all employees, contractors, and visitors.

The role also ensures regulatory compliance and risk mitigation at all sites.

This role will also be the technical subject matter expert pertaining to health and safety best practices and will be responsible for all integrated management systems across North America as well as emergency response/crisis management and Business Continuity Planning, and asset protection.

Key Responsibilities

- Strategy and Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive regional health and safety strategy to support HQ initiatives .
  • Provide leadership and direction to both MarketCo and Brandco teams drive safety culture, risk awareness and mitigations.
  • Proactively collaborate with systemwide H&S and leadership teams, integrating health & safety business operations and strategic planning locally.
  • Understand regional specific H&S regulatory requirements and best practices while driving global strategy.

- Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, OHSA etc).
  • Identify and assess health and safety risks and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Oversee the implementation of health and safety audits and inspections.

- Program Development and Implementation:

  • Design and implement wellbeing & health and safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Partner with Compliance Training Manager to develop and deliver training programs to promote awareness and compliance.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety programs and make necessary adjustments.

- Incident Management and Reporting:

  • Oversee the investigation of health and safety incidents, accidents, and near misses.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and record-keeping of health and safety data.
  • Analyze incident trends and develop action plans and remediation strategies to prevent recurrence.

- Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote and drive health and safety and wellness initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for health and safety matters with regulatory agencies and industry organizations.
  • Represent the company in health and safety forums, conferences, and networks.

- Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the health and safety budget.
  • Ensure efficient allocation of resources to support health and safety initiatives.

- Continuous Improvement:

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in health and safety practices in conjunction with OpEx initiatives .
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.
  • Lead initiatives to implement new technologies and innovations in health and safety.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in safety management, preferably within the beverage alcohol or similar manufacturing industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing effective safety programs and policies.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a challenging environment.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree (focus on health and safety/environment an asset)

Financial Responsibility

  • Overall managerial control and decision making responsibility. Determines and changes priorities in line with financial, business and organizational objectives.
